Recently i sent a PFD letter to FCO (Fair Collections & Outsourcing) via email to "Rcarroll@fco.com", First i received what seemed to be an automated message from "no-reply@fco.com" They responded with

"This office received your correspondence and pursuant to our obligations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, previously investigated your account and responded to you regarding it.

Our client recently provided us with additional documentation which we are enclosing it for your convenience.

This communication is from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact this office at the numbers listed below.

Sincerely,
Collections Department"

Attached was a copy of my original lease as well as an itemized list of the charges.

So i responded:

Thank you for attempting to validate the debt. However, I am requesting a copy of the signed lease agreement with my legal name AND social security number, as well as, proof of the charges from Neponset Landing, rather than just a statement. In addition you did not respond to my settlement request or my pay for delete. I look forward to working with you personally, rather than having automated responses.

Thank you,

Their responds came in from a different email address : "Rcarroll@fco.com" it said:

"If you have additional questions please contact the attorney handling this matter who is listed below:"

Attorneys Contact Information

So i asked if the attorney represented FCO or the original creditor, they responded "Creditor"

Then i called the attorney, He confirmed they now had the account and have been trying to reach me. They also said FCO was fired from collecting the debt and it was turned over to them.

My question is, What are my options? How should i handle FCO? They are still the only company reporting this debt on my credit report but since they don't own the debt can they legally report it?

Any input or suggesting would be great appreciated

So what are you disputing if they've already sent a copy of your lease and a statement of the charges. Or are you disputing the charges?

Im disputing their entry on my credit report. Since they no longer own the debt, they should not be reporting at all on my credit report. If the original creditor has canceled their contract to collect the debt they should've removed their entry on my credit report. When i dispute it and if they update or verify then that has to be some type of violation

Update!

Just received the results from my dispute and FCO has been DELETED from Experian! Now I'm just waiting for the results from Transunion, They seem to do everything super slow! But either way words can't explain how excited i am! FCO was by far the worst account on my credit report.

Wonderful, nicely done !

How did you dispute this with Experian. What did you tell them to have them investigate this.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated - Thx
