In terms of overall site traffic, Creditboards had an estimated 353,000 hits in January.

MyFICO had 2 million

Even if the overall numbers are not spot on, the proportions are likely close to reality. MyFICO effect would be 7 Times the CB Effect assuming the same information is being passed back and forth. Of course you have to assume a lot of the same people are visiting both sites, but you get an idea ....

The thing I don't understand is that in their "24 months to 700 FICO from BK 7" they insist that you must start with Credit One. They state that secured cards make it difficult to get approved for unsecured cards. The thread has been updated and edited and that horrible advice persists. I have tried to dispel it but people read the plan as absolute gospel. I seriously think that the OP of that thread works for Credit One. It is insanely bad advice that sends them thousands of new apps per year. Amazing.

I bet you myfico gets tons of commission of those CreditOne apps.

There in it for the MONEY!

That 2M is for the entire myfico.com domain, though. What percentage of myfico.com visitors also visit the forums?

Yes, you are absolutely right. MyFICO has lots of money behind it plus they have the unique ability to give real FICO scores to consumers so it certainly isn't because they are a better site. We all know that is true.

CB is kind of like the Wild Wild West. MF is like an eighth grade dance with chaperones to break things up when they get uncomfortable.

The MyFICO effect is similar to pithing.

Urinating?

pith
piTH/
verb
gerund or present participle: pithing
  1. 1.
    remove the pith from.
  2. 2.
    rare
pierce or sever the spinal cord of (an animal) so as to kill or immobilize it.

Serious YIKES to definition 2!

Or you can just "take a pith."

I used to pith frogs in biology class.

CreditBoards and flyertalk should merge...

Edit: that could be dangerous

That's the entire myfico site, not just the forums.

Most of these sites that estimate traffic, value in $$ etc are not accurate anyway.

Alexa comes closer, but again, myfico is the entire site, not just the forum. I don't think their forum gets as much traffic and nowhere near as many posts as ours.

A lot of sites allow their stats counters to count the bots roaming their site, and some boards even allow the bots to register, just to beef up their numbers.

The people who bought Flyertalk tried to buy creditboards. Where do you get these ideas.

Alexa.com is a website that tracks website traffic. It's probably the most often used way to compare Website A's Traffic to Website B's traffic.

If you've never run a website you likely have no reason to be aware of them.

not to sound ignorant but what is Alexa?

Alexa is a site that counts unique web site hits. How many new unique users visit a site.

It's usually a great way to what's doin' with a site. They also rank sites, so if you're in the top 10,000 sites you know that you've 'arrived', etc...

If you're looking to use photobucket just to be able to post pics here (or other forums) I'd suggest visiting tinypic.com

You don't have to make an account or anything. Just upload the pic, copy the code, paste the code into your post.
