Wh doesn't anyone vote for Cap One secured?

They did.

It has the highest number of votes.

Which is ridiculous by the way. It definitely is the most popular, but it is not the best for the vast amount of people.

I voted for Cap One secured because it was my very first credit card many years ago when I had no credit. I was able to scrounge up $300 for the deposit. After less than a year with that card, and a perfect payment history, I was approved for an unsecured Citibank Visa with a $2500 CL, and everything just took off from there. Been with Citi for almost 20 years, and it wouldn't have been possible without that first Cap One card.

I'm glad that Cap One worked out for you. Today, years later, do you believe that it is one of the three best choices available?

Unless you qualify for cards that graduate, like the Navy Federal secured or the BOA secured, it actually is one of the better cards.

You guys should make a I don't care about secured cards thread. I bet there would be a lot of content you could contribute.

Does one have to call BOA to get the $10,000 limit? Or did they recently move it to $4,900?

I think to do $10k secured, you have do go into a branch.

I know for a fact to do $10,000 secured you have to go into a branch. I would suggest bringing cash unless you have a BofA account with the money already in it.

Do I need to do the $10,000 all at once in the branch, or can I go in with say $5000 now and CLI $5000 later?

I have four secured cards (don't throw tomatoes at me lol). I've learned that sometimes it's harder to graduate cards with higher limits because the lender may not be comfortable issuing a 10K unsecured card (after graduation), as to something like a 3K card.

The banker at Wells Fargo and Navy Federal both told me that.

You can do $5,000 now and then $5,000 later at the cost of a hard pull (I think).

This was the first and only credit card company that approved me when I started out getting credit. 15 years later I still have the card and added two more cards (Unsecured) and purchased my car thru capital one.

cap 1 is crap 1 STILL

As far as top tier CC's go, yes. They recently changed to $0 AF on the Platinum card and the Secured card. I applaud them for that.

They are still pricks for not offering that that deal to longtime customers who call in to change their AF to the $0.
