refresh my memory - are signature cards the ones that don't report your CL anyway unless you actually let a high balace report?

Ah..

I know what you're saying..

I think you're referring to "Flexible Spending" limits.

maybe. like I've said recently, I've been out of the loop just gardening on my own away from CB for a couple of years. I'm not submitting the application if it won't report anyway so that's why I'm asking, because it's open and filled out and waiting for me...

Posted

I've gotten a ~3× and a 2× CLI via the EO and I'm still only at $10k.

I've considered getting a new card, assuming that I'd get a much higher limit, but then I look at myself in the mirror and ask, "WTF would I do with another one of their sh1tty cards?"

cv, I bet if you were to apply, you would get a nice CL; probably 30+.

The one that I was added to as an AU, shows the 30k limit. But there are some cc's out there that show up as "Flexline or Flexible Spending" and they don't show their limits.

Just keep working that EO CV. Next 2-3x will be 20-30k. CrapOne makes you earn it :P

Maybe... but I closed ten cards last year, and I still have several that I almost never use, and I don't want any more.

Please don't misunderstand... my comments are my thoughts on my current situation, which is very different now than it was 2.5 years ago when I joined CB.

Guys I took the bait and apped last night with EX on ice of course. The reason I app'd was for the potential "prybar". My highest reporting TL is only 6K so I said what the hell. I got approved for 20K, 160K reported income.

I have two cap1 cards now that I do not use anymore and they are both at 3K. So in my situation this will help me with future CLI's.

That is just my .02

It reports the limit.

This is the point that seems lost on those who already have 20K to 30K limits. Lots of folks are stuck in the 3-10 range max. And Cap 1 will put you through hell and reject you trying to get a modest CLI from one of their cards you have had for years and then turn around and approve you for a new card 5 times the limit of your existing one.

I am "shocked" that on a forum where people's primary goal is to achieve credit "slutdum, whordum, pimpdum" status, trying to get 500K - 1 MM in limits that the same folks turn up their nose at an easy 20K. I mean it's not like it's Lowes for God's sake! Worst case scenario you might actually be able to USE the card when someone steals your main cards on vacation and this is your backup.

interesting datapoint re: CL to income ratio.

based on my own personal app, it's safe to say they'll give you at least 25% of your income if your scores and utilization support it.

now i'm considering telling my husband to go ahead and respond to his own venture pre-qualification offers that keep coming in the mail to see what a ratio looks like with a person with a lower score, shorter AAOA, and larger utilization.

we'll see.

(ETA: my current largest reporting limit is $6400 fwiw - CapOne just gave me $10K)

That's not my primary goal...and not many others.

While I agree a $20K Cap1 is great for some people, it is also a new account and an AAOA hit, which I would rather save for a card that is more valuable to me. I would take a $10K Ink Plus over a $20K Venture in a heartbeat.

Dang it. I want to try to see how generous Cap1 will be with me seeing as I already have two of their cards at 3K each.

BUT I don't want to push my luck and waste 2 pulls for nothing (EX is on ice.)

I think this post and others shows that each person situation or circumstances can vary. While the fundamental basics hold true in credit building/repair there are some nuances that vary from person to person.. AAOA isn't an issue for me but for others it may be.

From my experience you can't be both choosy and a whore at the same time. Either you will sleep with anyone who will take you or you won't. Quantity, Baby, Quantity!

Sure you can. A one time cash bonus of $400 is nothing compared to 250K UR points on the Ink Plus in 5x categories every year.

A rewards whore is looking out for only the best offers and cards. This does not fit either of those categories.

Credit whores are only interested in credit limits. Awards whores are an entirely different animal. You will have to establish the criteria for awards whores, but do not confuse them with credit whores. Credit whores have a very specific drug of choice and that's higher credit limits.

Awards whores have a different disease.
