I've seen a handful of people get approved with only tu unfrozen, but cap one normally wants eq AND tu unfrozen. I've seen plenty of people get denied for only having tu unfroze, I'd like to figure out why cap one approves tu only rarely, or if it's just random.

i would like to know too!!!! only my TU is good right now.

Here's what I have and what they gave me:

I applied for Venture and Venture One. I shouldn't have, but since CapOne was being generous....This is what I got:

$5000 at 22.24% no fee first year, $59 after that

$3000 at 0% for a year 22.24% after that no fee

They pulled TU and EQ. EX is frozen.

My TU is 636 with 2 old collections and a paid tax lien

EX is 644 with 2 old collections and a paid tax lien

-

I have 2 other Cap One cards a QS- $1750 limit and another one I can't remember at $1750 limit. Both maxed out when CapOne pulled my credit. My other cards are the sucky ccs for people like me - Credit One - $500 limit and Amazon with a $500 limit.

My utilization is probably 90%. Go figure.

Not a fan of Cap One

But, I'd be okay with 50k....

GP?

I couldn't help myself...

Max that sucker out and you will pay $422.25 in interest per month. In three years you will pay $15k in interest.

good question... cc's aren't cash. Best way I can think of to p*ss away your rewards...

get 2% to 5% on a dollar and give back 12% to 25% on the same dollar... uh no...

Although I know this post will ruffle some feathers, it's honestly not meant as an attack of any sort. Hopefully y'all can take it as intended: food for thought.
There seems to be a very strong tendency here at CB to disbelieve anything that happens to people that are not BI(SK)s. This is bad science.
The credit world has an ever evolving climate. Things change rapidly and one must guard against becoming over-confident in past experiments. Several things held as CB dogma have been disproven in the last few months. 50K Capital One lines and "too many payments in a month" are two off the top of my head.

You lost me here, where/when were these things "investigated" by a BISK and then disproven? Before my feathers get ruffled, I want to be CLEAR about your "not an attack".

I didn't say anything investigated by BISKs has been disproven. I said things "held as dogma at CB" have been disproven and gave two examples.

- 50K CapOne - several claims that it's impossible in this thread. Disproven in this thread.

- "too many payments" - there are several threads around about it. I asked for evidence of it in a recent thread and was told by several people that "it's a known issue". I searched CBand came to the conclusion that the concept was laid out by hegemony (who I respect (and whom I'm not sure if s/he's BISK or not)), but I could find no evidence of it, just repetitions of it. Disproven by cai.

BI/SK was very much just a catch-all/shorthand for "respected/experienced members here at CB". It was not being used to target people with the actual title(s).

I have mentioned that issuers use fraud alert/score modeling and one red flag for some major issuers is multiple payments. I'm sorry I can't post or link to internal credit card issuer modeling protocols. There are plenty of anecdotes on CB and other boards about people being shut down by an issuer for payment fraud risk. Moreover, just because someone makes multiple payments does not mean they will be shut down or face AA. I certainly never claimed that; all I've ever said is it is a risk factor in some of the fraud modeling.

I do not know this person you claim "disproved" this nor do I know of his or her evidence. I do know first hand from people in the industry about the type of modeling used to manage card portfolios.

I had to look up what BISK means and I can say I've never been part of the club; sorry to disappoint you.
