Pulled the trigger on another Venture since I just closed an old subprime $750 Sony Card and moved the limit over to a newer card.

Approved for a $5,000 limit. (My other CapOne cards are $33,000, $5,250, and $2,250).

Have been pre-qual'd for a venture for a while now, and seeing as everybody else is doing well I decided to give it a shot. 18 months post CH7 BK, other than that spotless credit. 684 fico from Discover. 1% utilz. Instant approval 15k. Well over three times my highest CL. Hope this bumps my score up some.

How did you get that limit moved over? Cap1 doesn't combine.

I think he means he closed one card to apply for another

Venture One $10,000. App'ed Thursday night, received 7-10 days. Called on Friday, no decision yet. But during conversation with Rep I mentioned I wanted Venture because I want a Miles card versus cash back. So the rep said I have an offer for Venture so my Quicksilver was changed to Venture with the same limit(4300) and $45.63 CB was changed to 4,563 miles. Today I called again and I was told I was approved for $10,000 Venture One. I am loving Cap1. Checked CRs yesterday and they pulled only Equifax and the Fico score is now 666. No sure if they pulled EX and TU today.

Venture is also a cash-back card.

As already mentioned, this is a "miles" card, not a miles card. Cap1 doesn't have a miles or transferable points card. They just have "miles" which is cash back.

A "mile" is just one tiny penny.

Here is my rational for applying.

It's a prybar for those who don't qualify for NFCU.

My highest CL ever.

$10,000 of buying power.

I am looking into "churning" a credit card not through Msing but investing/buying and selling.

Higher limit begets higher limits.

Cap1 for me is the road that leads to other higher limits from Amex, Barclays, Discover, etc..

Since Nov 2014 with Cap1 I went from $300---->$4300---->$10,000.

This was a calculated move. I needed $10,000 CL on my CR.

I have not delved into the economics of CC rewards but my $45.63 CB on Quicksilver was turned into 4,563 Venture miles.

The ignorant in me likes the miles better than the CB.

And thinks that If a mile is a tiny penny,

Between Venture one and Venture

If I get 60,000 bonus miles,

isn't that equivalent to $600 free money?

Yes

The difference is that 60K miles can be worth many times more than $600, depending on how they are used.

60K "miles" always equals $600.

True Mend, I've heard about it.

But with 2 CAs and Charge-offs with all prime lenders still reporting on my CRs

I can't afford to be greedy.

Venture is also a cash-back card.

TPG names it among the best rewards cards:

Capital One Venture Rewards Card Sign-up Bonus 40,000 miles when you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months, equal to $400 in travel Earning: 2x on every dollar spent Redeeming: Points can be redeemed for 1 cent towards travel and rewards don’t expire Annual Fee: $59 waived the first year Foreign Transaction Fees: None

Can I earn a free airline ticket for paying my mortgage with this card? Free hotel room? Free rental car? etc...

For someone who had ZERO LC just last Nov

I couldn't even rent a car six months ago

This is AMAZING!!

I don't thing I said this before...

Thank you CB

How did you get that limit moved over? Cap1 doesn't combine.

I'll believe it when I see it....

and can I steal that siggy graphic?

Can someone explain how/why they won't increase my limit on a card with $3k limit, but will give me a new card with a $50,000 limit? I would rather have the limit on one of these older cards that's I've now had for 8 years.

A new card hurts your scores and keeps you more captive to them.
