This is killing me... my plan was to 2 for 1 Amex in April for D* and do nothing until then. I have solid Fico scores (TU and EX 750+ with EQ at about 725). $85K income and a couple of TL's $20K plus... nothing outrageous on inq's (4 EX, 4 EQ & 1 TU)

But this card was not in the plan... however, to me it's almost worth it for the $400 bonus, but I'm still hesitant.

You have a solid long-term plan.

If this interests you, then add it to your plan.

But you are one of the few who arrives with a solid plan in place. You would likely get another 20k line.

Remember not to believe much of the reported data elsewhere.

Greetings Jay... I just cancelled 2 Cap1 cards in December... as was said here... I viewed it as the end of the rebuild era... but another $20k line with a hefty bonus for what is really minimal spend is damn near too good to pass up... that said... do I need more credit? NO... Do I want/need D*? YES Would I like $400 for money I will spend anyway? HELL YES... big sigh...

Approved for $30k @ 13.9%. Three existing Crap1 cards at $2750, $750, and $750, Scores in the mid to upper 600's.

This is where the rub is.

For well established credit profiles apping at this might not be the move.

For rebuilders, this might just what they're looking for.

Surely a card for many, has been for awhile.

ok, well without having to go back and read who was approved with just tu & eq, who are the folks in this boat?

Always keep on ice.

I'm just going to GP it. No real plan after that. I could use a 15k+ line though...

No guarantee on that you will get a 15K line

I'm still into GPing it in the morning. I mean, I like to GP when I can. Research is research. Calling a UW, or searching for new B* softs, or GPing at stuff - all the same to me.

getting tempted, C man

I'm not sure this is for you Lizzy.

I think your credit stable can afford to not app at this.

K-Rad has a pretty good feel for who should app at this and who shouldn't. I'm sure he would talk you down too.

Remember, if I app at this it's just GPing. I can easily not app at this and be just fine - though I'd like to break the 15k mark...

From my experience you can't be both choosy and a whore at the same time. Either you will sleep with anyone who will take you or you won't.

Sure you can. A one time cash bonus of $400 is nothing compared to 250K UR points on the Ink Plus in 5x categories every year.

A true whore would always go for both. Always.

Sorry, I don't go both ways.

what about the twins?

His whole story is incredibly shocking and I don't know whether to believe it or not. But I also can't find any fakery in the images. Perhaps someone with a better eye can.

If that person actually has this level of Freedom Unlimited, he or she would be over here working that magic. The reason why this person isn't over here is because we ask/demand as many data points as we can get.

Six in one day? Do you think we wouldn't have found out how to do this by now (if it were real)?

Catching up w/ thread. Haven't GPed yet. Source of data is now questionable.

Uber, it appears that you are correct that not only is Cap 1 on crack but so is the OP on MyFICO claiming a 50K limit. I searched through his posting history. He has 33 posts. 32 have to do with this 50K approval after denials for CLI's on the 3K cards. His only other post is from 11/11/13 (registration date) where he claims to have a "perfect" vantage score and also claims to have "perfect credit" while in the 50K post he tells us he has a BK reporting from 2008. He states his FICO scores are in the high 770s. I am not sure that is a credible claim with a BK still reporting. Check out his original post here:

"Hi All,

I'm confused by my credit scores.

I have a perfect 990/990 VantageScore, my credit score, on the other hand, is only 773/850. Any idea on why this would happen? I have perfect credit, and don't know why my FICO would be so low."

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Understanding-FICO-Scoring/Perfect-VantageScore-Low-FICO-Score/m-p/2580461

That said, he may be FOS, but we have proof on this thread that several folks have been approved for 30K limits. So let's assume that is reality until someone gets a higher one. Perhaps some of the big income folks would be willing to take one for the team and see what kind of a limit they can get. I would love to see the result from someone with a 300K plus income applying. I know they don't need Cap 1 but with all the focus on getting 2% versus 1.5% it seems inconsistent to leave $400 on the table, and another $400 if your spouse applies. That's $800 bucks towards a hotel or plane tickets.

ok, well without having to go back and read who was approved with just tu & eq, who are the folks in this boat?

I don't recall seeing in reports here on CB or over at MF during this current "run".

However, I do recall many CapOne approvals with EX on ice in the past (and CPDB supports this).

The mantra should be "Experian is best served on the rocks." Easy way to remember it.

There have been NO REPORTS of anyone with just two CRA's thawed and Exp iced getting turned down due to needing to pull 3 reports. This is confirmed over and over. There is only one report of somebody with only 1 CRA thawed getting an approval.

Took deep deep breath and stepped away from computer... If they'll give $20K plus today then they'll do it another day... sticking with the original plan... I'm not a Cap1 fan either... yes, they started me on rebuild, but those years of fees really twerked me off...

I have $20 now on USAir... wonder if they would top that $15 on Navy

My friend recently got approved for the Venture with Ex thawed. TU and EQ were both open and oddly enough they only pulled EQ. Obviously was a glitch

This has been my point from the onset.

Nothing has changed here, just THINK about the choice for a minute.

If after 24 72 hours, one still wants the card. That is a good choice.

If I have my exp on ice, would that make a diff in decision? or would eq & tu suffice.

The DG didnt have any frozen.

My scores & limits & income far out way hers, however, she has way less iib's still reporting then I do, thats why we tried her first.

On the fence

I had Exp on ice when I applied.

Over the last 8 or 10 months there have been two claims of a TU only pull. Only one of those claims were supported with documents.

For you guys that can get Navy and NASA and Penfed and high limit Amices and Chase cards, I sure don't blame you. "Cap 1 is the Navy for civilian deadbeats."

I got my 10K Venture card 11 months post discharge with 7 IIB accounts reporting and FICOs around 630-650. Your IIB accounts will not matter.

"Cap 1 is the Navy for civilian deadbeats."

That's funny.

And not necessarily accurate. Cap1 won't budge on my $750 CL Platinums. And they inherited an HSBC-backed card that had a $320 limit. They won't do anything with that card. No CLI, PC, zip, zilch, nada!

Posted (edited)

747 on TU... both others are frozen. would only be worth it for a very high CL...is it site specific for application* o

not worth an EQ pull, near to B* on one remaining, TU -0- as of yesterday.

EX still at 7 of course, 4 to be a year old in june...

You just hit the nail on the head... I have Navy, Penfed and Amex with hefty limits... One Chase with a fairly hefty limit... between those 4 banks/CU's I have $87K with under 5% UTL... taking JayB's advice I took a breath and walked away... I don't need Cap1... but I damn near got sucked in...
