You guys talk about travel benefits. Uh, all their cards except the Platinum have foreign transaction fees. That's awful. I guess they rely on the stupid, complacent, or to wealthy to care customers that will pay the fees anyway. But for the younger generation or people who care about foreign transaction fees, they're going to lose out.

You make a lot of incorrect assumptions without knowing the facts.

You are absolutely correct...... But I am a beginner, and Amex doesn't do a great job of making these supposed extra special Amex benefits pop out at the consumer.
Like any rewards card, especially with an AF, you need to do the math for your own situation and see what kind of a return you will get from your spending.

27K MR points from $6K in grocery spending is a bargain for a $95 AF if you travel. If you're looking for your first Amex and you want travel rewards, that's a good place to start. I'll be adding that card in 2016 as my grocery card.

And with all of those savings you'll be able to buy a minivan to haul all those groceries.

I'm going to start churning Amex business cards and the EDP will be a good place to hold all the MR points. That 75K offer was just the beginning.

And we all know that Walmart is not coded as a grocery store. :P

You guys talk about travel benefits. Uh, all their cards except the Platinum have foreign transaction fees. That's awful. I guess they rely on the stupid, complacent, too wealthy to care or financially literate customers who take the time to educate themselves about the benefits/services offered as part of the financial product portfolio that AMEX offer customers that will pay the fees anyway. But for the younger generation or people who care about foreign transaction fees, they're going to lose out.

I do not believe you were voted the spokesperson for the younger generation...

The Pt has no FTF's. The AF is but more than offset by the multitude of benefits it offers. If you travel enough to worry about the FTF, then you travel enough to worry about those benefits.

Macy's will D* your AU, and I have seen reports of Nordstroms doing the D* if you had an old card with them.

All AUs except Amex AUs report the date the account was opened. That's not really the same as D*.
