I made a mistake and BT into a New Barclays world master card with "0" interest for 15 months by doing the same amount twice. The 2nd BT request just popped on my Barclays transaction and showed me $2000

over my limit. I spoke to Barclays and was told that since BT went thru, my credit line when the new statement is cut will be the amount that I am over the limit. She said there was no overlimit fee om World Master Card.

I am a little stunned since when I got the card 7 days ago and I called back door for a higher CL they said NO!

Umm, I don't know how much I would believe that. Did they come from the same card or two different cards? You could call and say it was an accident if Barclays doesn't increase the CL as mentioned. I would call the EO or UW about it and talk with them if you only spoke with front line CSRs. This could look really bad on your reports if this doesn't work out. Barclays is a conservative creditor and I would be sure not to start out on the wrong foot.

Can you pay this down quickly?

The BT fee will also put you over $120.

My Barclays world card reports as "flexible spending" which I thought allows you to go over the limit. Maybe that is what happened.

It would allow some overage, but it seems like a stretch in this case to allow double the limit with no internal history. I would just be concerned that it will report 2k over limit on reports. Hopefully I'm wrong.

In addition, the overage will be due in full by the following statement period, even if approved as "flexible spending".

he didn't say his CL was only $2k,

just that the double BT caused it to go $2k over the limit.

I guess I assumed the CL was $2k because the OP said they did the same amount twice and went $2k over limit.

You're right because it could have been a $6k CL with 2 $4k BTs or something like that.

I'm surprised they allowed that and I imagine that the OP will have to pay that part off in the first month.
