Amex SPG $2k

Fifth Third Platinum $9k

Chase Hyatt $10k

So with all the Chase buzz can you tell us if you had more than 5 new accounts in the last 2 years when you apped? Just curious.

Yes, I did it for science. I was declined for a Slate, but approved for the Hyatt.

Y'all hate on me all you want to....I had to put my clean EX to the test.

App'd the BBVA NBA Amex with the no AF for life offer and $100-$150 bonus. Approved for $18k and lowest APR offered at 9.24%. EX FICO 765, AAOA 2.3 yrs, and tons of new accounts in the last 12 months. It's a decent 2% no AF card for the long run. This 'may' bump me over $250k in total limits.

I had 21 inquiries on EX at the time of the application. Inquiries. Don't. Matter.

I would've gone for Chase but they're being dbags right now (I did manage a CSP and Freedom already by the skin of my teeth), I already have 3 Citi cards this year and Amex won't give me another revolver right now.....don't need another charge card at the moment.

Interesting on the BBVA...

If you update this thread with a new credit card approval, in addition to the card and the limit, please post what your new card offers uniquely toward your credit plan, or how the rewards are unique and valuable to your current spending habits.

If you can't articulate a logical, sensible rationale for getting a card, don't apply for it.

Amex-Rewards-Card.png

Fidelity Amex. 2% cash back. This is my bills/rent card. Added benefit of have the symbol of the Illuminati (in green) on the face of the card.

I applied with EX and EQ on ice. A day later they called and asked for a pull. TU.

I'll dump and match the cash back into something aggressive.

Nice. :good:

That's my long term BOA card. I use it mainly to load Serve at this point.

I know K-Man managed to get a PC from a base 123 (or was it a travel rewards?) to Fidelity, so I'm gunna to take the next logical leap and try to combine 10k from my World Wildlife 123. I'll keep the WWF 123 long term - BofA is loose, so I'll wash/rinse until stuff starts tightening up.

What limit did they give you?

Chase Slate @ $4k and 12.99%

Chase Marriott @ $8k

Soon to be $11k Slate and $1k Marriott.

And for cv, I have $7.7k (down from $13k) of debt that I am going to transfer to the Slate. This is a huge win for me considering I got denied a balance transfer card from my own bank in December.

I also travel a lot on my own dime so the hotel points are useful.

These are my last new accounts until the debt is paid off, then I will go for CSP and Freedom. Once my current BOA card is paid off, I'm going to try to PC to a rewards card.

Actually, I received a call from BofA today that they decline my PC from a 3-2-1 to a FIA AMEX. I was told I couldn't go from a non-transparent card to a transparent card (whatever the Freedom Unlimited<* that means)

So I had them put me in the travel rewards. 1.5% plus my 25% kicker for 1.875%. That's as good as I am getting from BofA without a new app I guess

I'm gunna try to move the limit, and if they hit me with that transparent rap I'll ask them for a breakdown - card for card. Making the note now. Also making a note to print the complete list of BofA cards.

Amex SPG $2k

Fifth Third Platinum $9k

Chase Hyatt $10k

BBVA Compass NBA Amex $7k - For teh lulz and no AF for life if approved by June 30th

As for the Amex SPG and the Chase Hyatt - I have big spending coming up and am going to use them to get the bonuses, since I'm traveling quite a bit and don't really have a preference where I stay since hotel points are worth jack.

The Fifth Third was a pre approval and has no AF, so also for teh lulz.

If you can't articulate a logical, sensible rationale for getting a card, don't apply for it.

I was just approved for a Chase Marriott card. Below is what the card will do for me, both short-term and ongoing.

Contrast this analysis with the rationale for, say, getting a card because it has a sports team logo on it, or getting a store card from Muumuus at the Mall®.

Immediately:

- 70,000-point signup bonus after nominal spending requirement. We're going to Europe in August, and I've virtually exhausted my inventory of hotel points. This will be a good start to replenishing the supply for our 2016 vacation.

Next ~5 years:

- Two ways to get to Platinum status faster (credit for 15 nights/year automatically, and then one more credit per $3,000 spent).

I'm staying at Marriott properties a lot more often than I have historically, but not often enough to achieve Platinum on stays alone. I'm stuck at Gold, and would otherwise be at that level indefinitely

- With Platinum status comes 50% bonus points on stays, and late checkout privileges (one of my favorite perks of hotel elite status) and a host of other benefits ranging from dubious to valuable, depending on one's perspective (Marriott Platinum elite benefits).

- 5 points/$ spent at Marriott.

- In exchange for the $85 annual fee (waived the first year) I will receive a complimentary night at a category 1-5 hotel every year (these properties are nothing to dream about, but we will definitely use this benefit in some smaller town during the year, which is enough to make this effectively a no-AF card after you net out the cost of the free night).

You broke your own rule and didn't post the limit... for shame!

$25,000.

The new rule was about posting the rationale. Most everyone already posts the card and the limit.

BBVA NBA Amex (Lakers) - 30k!! (highest limit ever)

App'ed over the phone. They said it was in "processing" but called a different number and found out I was approved and my limit.

I closed on a house last month and I am trying to get my available credit as high as possible so my overall util isn't affected by some remodeling we are doing. I thought I was done with my app spree but since BBVA seemed to be approving regardless of new accounts and inquiries I gave it a shot.
