China Airlines MC from Barclays, (Aug 2012), when I "Thought" I was "Golden"..

The upside is that it drove me to start trying to learn about how lenders make their decisions. :good:

My personal view is that any negative can be turned into a positive if you learn something from it, (since education is valuable).

It's not only FICO score for every lender, (some lenders are more liberal, and some are more conservative).

I'm just a newbie here but I've not yet come across a discussion on this board about the concept of an "Application Score", (as I understand the concept highly lender proprietary and no public access to that decision making tool of lenders).

PenFed: Have yet to have an account with them that they have NOT screwed up.

State Dept. FCU: Have to LART them before they will accept an APO, FPO or DPO as a legitimate address.

AmEx: Needed LARTing before they would accept an FPO or DPO as legitimate address.

Google Custom Search box in the top right-hand corner is a tool you'll come to appreciate.

Enter, say, "<creditor name> proprietary OR internal" in that box (without the quotes) -- not the other search box. Make sure OR is capitalized.

For example:

amex proprietary OR internal

chase proprietary OR internal

As you said, it's proprietary stuff, but you'll find quite a few discussions of what particular factors got credit or CLI apps denied by some of the majors.

AmEx has probably one of the better known in-house algorithms, called "American Express Proprietary Acquisition Risk Scoring System." Really rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?... Surprisingly, a search for "PARSS" turns up nothing here (until now).
