Okay, I admit it, I was trolling in a bad credit advice neighborhood, but when I looked at this signature line, I felt nauseous. And all she/he received in feedback was line after line of "congrats" on the new CLI's.

I just wish this person would pay me one-half of what they are shelling out to FP, CreditOne, way overpriced goods on Fingerhut and overpriced/unnecessary stuff from the other retailers and I would gladly steer them here.

I know it sounds snobbish, and you can certainly fix your FICO with this mix of junk, but really it's just .... so ..... wrong. It's like discovering your kid is using drugs.

All roads may lead to Rome, but some just aren't very pretty.

I wonder what the percentage of people who default on those CC's are just out of pride? I was one of them. I let my pride get in the way and refused to get ripped off by them. "What's this fee for? well sir, It there and nothing you can do about it.... "Fook Off, I'm not paying... Then came the 7 year bad mark. I now realize I should have just paid it and closed it.

I'm not defending those TL's or that poster, but what are your TL's BJ ?

I've never seen you mention them.

I'm just not bright enough to figure out how to use the signature line myself!

I am one year post discharge.

I had an OpenSky secured for $1000 for one year.

($29 annual fee, no cr. check, no bs fees, closed it at before 2nd fee hit. Opened day after 341 meeting. No drama rebuilder card)

I currently have:

CU credit builder installment $1200, 2% interest, 48 months, $25/month.

(I know, wasted interest, but when my first credit builder installment paid off at 6 month mark, my score dropped 35 points due to credit mix change)

Cap 1 Venture - 10K

Would have got VentureOne but worth $59 not to have ugly gold card. This one is very pretty.

BECU unsecured CC 5K

10% interest. Was denied for secured card 2 months earlier (below 620 TU). Had 6 month credit builder $500

(Eventually hope to raise to 35K)

Cap1 QS1 - 3K

(In credit steps. 2 months to first CLI. I am thinking at best a $1500 CLI. Will ask to waive AF next year upon renewal. Asked for CLI's, denied so far - too new)

CareCredit - 10K

For utilization only. Charged $40 for nitrous gas yesterday. Will use twice a year at dentist. Have insurance

Wal-Mart - $1100.

I won't set foot in the store. Buy something online. I detest this store for its labor practices. I got it solely so I can jack the limit to 25k eventually. My free FICO isn't working through my freeze

Lowes - $500.

Got for utilization. Want to jack CL to 25K eventually. Called for recon. No dice yet. Brand new. Crazy low limit since they just gave me 10K for CareCredit one app before

PayPal Smart Connect $800.

Oops. I got this when I applied for a PayPal MC and was not approved. I hate it but I have put a couple of eBay charges through. Hopefully can jack CL for utilization

SDFCU secured CC 1K

This does not graduate but I assume in a year or two I can get approved for an unsecured card with them. I think it's very cool. Wish I could have a NASA rocket!

Apple FCU secured CC 1K (Eligible to unsecure at one year). Hopefully 15K CL @ 6% in a year or two. Then 35K

AK USA CU secured CC 1K (will unsecure at 6 months) Hopefully 15K CL in a year or two. Then 35K

That's great and a nice rebuild after BK.

I guess it is just the time of year for all of us to help out someone else. That poster in MF is probably clueless to any other way, or in a VERY bad place credit wise.

We are all in a different place, with our plans and what we have accomplished or what we will. He/she is obviously proud of those TL's, to put them in a siggy.

I started at the BOTTOM also, and I will NEVER forget that.

Good luck on your rebuild. :good:

I wasn't trying to be catty about the person from MyF*CKO. My point was that had they spent a little time over here getting beat up, they could have a better start and not be getting shafted by every predatory lender in town. I joined CB in July. It is only by pure luck that in my first year post discharge I only opened one secured CC and one credit builder loan. That was just dumb luck.

I just think for that person on the other site, rather than saying "congrats," people should say, "congrats, you're off to a good start. Now no more store cards and let's get you out of the den of thieves in subprime land. Good start, but here is how you can improve."

That's all I mean. "There but for the grace of God go I"

And believe me, if there is a mistake to be made with credit, I have done it -- over and over and over again.

I think CB is like a 12-step program for credit abusers. To tell people they are making dumb credit decisions is like telling an AA buddy they shouldn't drink. We get that.

And I have lots of friends with FICO's in the 800s who have never missed a payment, never carried a balance, have a handful -- maybe 5 ultra-prime credit cards -- and would be amazed that there is a need for a site like this. I'm just grateful it's here. It's saving my bacon.

Yes, Bill W and I are old buddies. We have had a few falling outs over the years, but for the last 10 we are best buds! I think I'm oddly drawn to destructive behavior in all things so I can find support groups like this. After tomorrow I will be adding overeaters anonymous to my schedule.

I use the MyFico service for, uh, my FICO scores, but the forums strike me as a place where credit ratings go to die. So many people over there with toy limit store cards (more than my 3, by a lot, and those three are ones I'd use more often except maybe CareCredit which may be next on the way out). I've never understood some of the folks who have something like 30-50 cards in their signature. Who has time to monitor that many? Hell, it's work for me to look at my 4-5 I have now. It's to where I have to make calendar reminders when due dates happen for each one so I don't miss.

This is my big fear as well. I have been neurotic about checking my balances daily on my 10 accounts. All I would need to do is SD some card, not monitor the account, and have some forgotten automatic charge bill to it and I get a 30-day late. Bam. 60 points gone.

Before BK , I had 100K in available credit. I would like to have that again in about 5 cards and be done with it. Maybe two rewards cards and a few low interest rate CU accounts in case I actually need credit. I'm self-employed and cash flow isn't always perfect.

Before I crashed and burned, I earned hundreds of thousands of airline points over 20 years and took a lot of business class trips around the world. The huge mistake was when I got sick for a year, I started financing my life on Chase and AMEX at 16% and then 29% interest rates. I might have been able to dig out had I had my debt on a 6% CU card and some have no penalty rates at all for being in default.

AMEX did me a HUGE favor when they sued me when I missed one payment in their repayment plan. The day after I got served I went to a BK 7 attorney. Two weeks later I filed. Best thing I ever did. Oh, and this was my second BK 7. First one in the early 1990s.

There are some good examples and stories of goodwill letters and they play with a softer hand there. When I needed to attack a 90 day late from a corporate card I came here, got busted on a couple times, and then got great advice. People on here respect and like you for doing research ahead of time.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing. :)

Continue success in the world of credit cards.

Insert generic congrats message here no matter what happens.

(I post a lot over there BTW so I've seen these messages so many times before. It can get pretty tiresome to read after a while. I do still give a lot of credit to that forum for helping me get started and everything and learned a lot of useful things here and on other CC forums as well.)

I have seen several over here that are over there also. Each site has their different ways of doing things. I like reading both. A lot of stories are similar to one another for example DC was praised on both sites when it first started and now it's not on both places. You always have to take the good with the bad. There are people on both sites that have had good information. You can talk about b* here but it is a sin over there and could be banned for trying to discuss it.

MF is a marketing arm of FICO with an obvious goal of entrenching the FICO brand. It's one of many avenues FICO uses to keep its score brands entrenched and I think, rather effectively. That said it has its value and its limitations. CB is not a marketing arm and is freer to offer advice that some large customers of the assorted FICO products might object to.

Ten years...?! :yahoo: A.W.E.S.O.M.E. :clapping::wave:

Yeah, I was a pretty poor excuse of a F.O.B. for the better part of a decade, but we patched things up almost 4 years ago.

PS -- What a coincidence, "tomorrow" is my favorite day to do a lot of things.:lol:
