Question on closing a card

Hey I called in to Continental Finance tonight to cancel my Verve MasterCard. I recorded the conversation (read to do that on here). I informed them I was doing it as well. When I told them I was recording it, they transferred me to another person. The person on the phone acknowledged that I had a zero balance and wouldn't owe anything and said she closed it.

 

I also dropped a notarized letter in the mail informing them I closed the account on the phone for their written records. Is that about all you need to do? This is the first time I've closed a card.

I think recording it was a bit much but yes there is nothing else you need to do....I would check next month to insure the balance is 0

Thanks, I only recorded it because for the past two days the CSR told me they didn't know how to close it.

knowledgeable csr's is what they pride themselves in

That may have been overkill for some cards, but you can never be too careful with the sub prime issuers.

Check not only that it's zero, but also to confirm it's actually been closed.
