I got a Wal-Mart card in last month's spree so I tried to sign up for the free FICO and it says I have to unfreeze it. Does it have to stay unfrozen to work? I don't really feel like paying $10 to unfreeze/refreeze for them, but I would like to know how it works. Is this true with the other TU free FICO credit cards as well? I know you can bump TU but I want to control who can put HI's on my report.

I do not think anyone can put hard pulls without your permission but I have heard that banks and others you currently have a relationship can take a look but it is a soft pull unless you activate some kind of request for credit or increase. I read this on the my fico forums

Walmart FICO only works while TU is unfrozen. If you unfreeze it will work but when the freeze lift ends you will get that message again.
