I couldn't wait with all the Amex CLI threads popping up. They approved my increase instantly $5000 to $15,000!

Awesome, congrats... couldn't get any better than that. I am looking for the 5 to 15 also... Jan 20 is the day ;)

Are you at 31 days, yet...? I want someone to GP this stuff and see if there's a 30-day threshold now. We saw a ~3x CLI approval at roughly 45 days last night, so I'm curious what a new "rule" may be.

I am probably at 32 or 33 days, first statement just cut, I am going to hold out on the 61 days though. What is it they say, it's a marathon not a sprint, I am in no hurry. If I get an itchy trigger finger I will let ya know. ;)

Just remember that there's no harm done in asking early -- they'll just say "too soon" and you can try again at the normal time. But I understand the hesitancy. One thing I'd check, if you get that itchy finger, is when the last soft they did was. That's what they'll use for your request. Either way, good luck!

Hhhmmm. ..that is really good to know. If my memory serves me the last soft they did was the 15th,and I just got the last two CO'S off my ex report on the 17th or 18th. So if I wait for the 61 days I am definitely going to have to make sure they have a new soft on me before requesting a cli. I will check the BD to see if those dates are accurate. Thank you for the heads up ;)

Great to know because this topic has always confused me. Is it safe to say wait until two statements have cut? I just checked the BD. I have two cards with multiple inquiries. Date of request(s)

Two things of note:

First, Amex does a lot of softs (obviously), especially on newer accounts. Some are triggered by their partnership with EX and they get an update every time something -- dang near anything -- changes on your EX. The softs that I believe "count" in making a CLI decision are the regular monthly softs. On mine, those have a line of their own and happen once a month on/around the same day of the month. Someone else may be able to contest this, but I think those are the only ones taken into account on CLIs.

Second, your post made me think of something that could have a bearing on eligibility date. The CSR told me several months ago when I was first approved that I could request a CLI "after the 2nd statement" and we've always known that to translate to 61 days. But maybe their system has been updated to truly open the window after the 2nd statement. That will vary for most of us. Two of my 3 cards had partial cycles before the 1st statement -- one was only opened a week or so before it cut. And the third card had a full cycle before 1st statement. So if that makes sense, then maybe you can apply it to your own situation.

Well, I've only had one statement cut on one card. The other card I have not used yet. I will wait until the second statement cuts.

That sounds like a fine plan. :) Or you can test it now...for science. As mentioned earlier, it doesn't reset a clock. I'd say the only thing to consider would be whether your last (or only, so far) monthly soft was done at a time that shed the best light on your file. If, perchance, you're already eligible...and if your file at that time didn't support the requested CLI...THEN it could be denied based on your profile and reset a clock as any other denial would (with the exception of denials for requesting "too early.)

I hope that makes sense. :P

have a lousy $1K SPG limit that I am using and paying ,using and paying, Jan 1 is 60 days.. just started using since it was sent to country house.

also have a gold that has seen a lot of usage with many PIF each month but it is a charge of course. Planning on REappling for a BCP in Jan... will see what that limit is but thanks for the thought on waiting for that. Exp dropped down to 699 with new accounts on BofA.

Definitely wait until you see if you're approved and if so what that new cards limit is
