A 3x CLI, IS still a CLI. Just three times, bigger than the CL.

Am I making sense??

There are exceptions to the rule and I didn't know if the 61 day 3x was one. It was just a question...

I sure hope I can be like you one day... ahhh... life will be so much easier ;)

Just trying to help trap.

I'm a little confused how OP requested a CLI over 25K without being asked for a form? (Forgot which one) to fill out.

I thought 25K and more

It's not automatic, just more likely.

You're thinking of the 4506-t.

Just a question, after much reading, I thought that AMEX was infamous for FRs and 4506-t request, regardless of CL. Am I understanding this post correctly, that the 4506-t request comes on CLs $25k & ABOVE? Or as PotO said, if you keep 2 cards under $35k you won't get the request? Also, just outta curiosity, I know most of the Elite CBers have more than 2 AMEX's, at what point can you expect the FR/4506-t request from AMEX,? 3 cards? 4? 6?

They can and do issue those requests at any limit, if they feel it's warranted. The only generality that can be made is that any one card with a CL in excess of $25k steps up the likelihood greatly -- seems there's some threshold there that moves beyond the "exception" situations and the net is cast much wider. And an aggregate limit in excess of $35k -- no matter how thinly spread across multiple cards -- poses the same heightened likelihood. But there are PLENTY of folks who fall into one of those latter categories who've never seen a 4506-t...and plenty with less than, say, $10k who have. YMMV.

As a side note, no FR or additional forms from Amex yet. If we did get one, we'd just comply but thought I'd let everyone know to support the ongoing scientific effort behind building/repairing credit.

Excellent. Thank you and congratulations again. I have a reminder on my phone for the 15th. I hope I'm as fortunate as your wife.

I just talked to Amex, they said they don't usually do 3x CLI's for Deadbeatlosers.

Hopefully you are an exception to this rule.

I must be because I hit the luv button on the site on day 61 (Monday) and was instantly taken from $8000 to $24,000. :)

I am past 61 days, but think I will wait until January.

Why?

Once you receive a CLI on any card you have with Amex, you have to wait 6 months before you're eligible for another. So if you plan to app for a new card in January, that card wouldn't be eligible for the customary 61-day CLI...you'd be in a 6-month waiting period. And let's say the card you have now is $2k...and the one you get in January is $8k. Which would you rather have sooner -- the 3x on the $2k or the 3x on the $8k...? If you don't get a higher limit on the newer card, then you can go ahead and hit then up for the CLI on the older card in January. All you did was delay the 6-month clock for a few days or weeks.

Just saw on MF that some pre-61 dayers are getting the 3x...

Any GP's? Mine is less than 30 days old so don't want to lemonade 'em off.

But I guess they aren't cutting any slack on the 6-month CLIs. Wife is two weeks shy of six months and they denied a CLI because must have six months between increases.

I couldn't wait with all the Amex CLI threads popping up. They approved my increase instantly $5000 to $15,000!

Awesome, congrats... couldn't get any better than that. I am looking for the 5 to 15 also... Jan 20 is the day ;)

Are you at 31 days, yet...? I want someone to GP this stuff and see if there's a 30-day threshold now. We saw a ~3x CLI approval at roughly 45 days last night, so I'm curious what a new "rule" may be.
