Excellent. Thank you and congratulations again. I have a reminder on my phone for the 15th. I hope I'm as fortunate as your wife.

I just talked to Amex, they said they don't usually do 3x CLI's for Deadbeatlosers.

Hopefully you are an exception to this rule.

I can't understand why everyone is afraid of 4056-t or a FR. I would welcome it to show that my income can support the higher limits.

Mendel,

Are you saying that you can only request a CLI on 1 Amex card every six months?

I saw this somewhere but I can seem to find it so I will ask it here...

If you are an AU and you apply for an Amex and it is declined there will be no HI?

The no hard inquiry denial is only if you have your own Amex.

If you are an AU, it will be a hard inquiry.

Yes, 1 successful CLI every 6 months. This is from Amex:

"We cannot increase the credit limit of a Card within six months of increasing the credit limit on another American Express Card."

Thinking ahead to next year... After after I ask for the the 3x CLI on the 20th of January I am going to app for a charge and revolver. Will I be able to request a 3x CLI after 61 days on the new cards or will I have to wait 6 months from January 20th to ask for a CLI on a new card?

Thanks

I think me and my DW must be the exception to the rule. On our BCP we got a CLI in March via the luv button ($3.6k -> $5.4k) In August Amex sent us a preapproved CLI offer, which we accepted ($5.4k -> $7.2k). Then in early November for the hell of it I tried a CLI request online via the luv button and went all the way to $10k with no pull.

This makes me wonder if the CLI is invited by Amex that it doesn't count with the "every 6 month rule"?

Not sure if the rolleyes was intentional or not, but I did answer your question correctly.

You can request a 3x CLI at 61 days, BUT you can only request a CLI with Amex on any of your cards every 6 months. 6 months from now would be the soonest you could request a CLI on her BCE or any other Amex she has.

Please don't misread! I am grateful!!

Unless you get an invitation from Amex or successfully complete the 4506-T process, the six-month rule timeframe prevails. I have also read multiple times that combining limits on two Amices resets the 6-month CLI window for your accounts.

From the looks of what you posted in the CP thread, you're due for an Amex 3x CLI on your cards.

I'm a little confused how OP requested a CLI over 25K without being asked for a form? (Forgot which one) to fill out.

I thought 25K and more

It's not automatic, just more likely.

You're thinking of the 4506-t.

I thought it was $35k. I could have sworn that was on a few threads here.

$25K is the number people get paranoid about.

That has been my experience as well. I received a CLI offer from them in the mail after having had a CLI three months prior. Then three and a half months later I got another CLI via the luv button.

I applied later for a new card and they took some of the limit from an existing card. I asked them to put it back, they did and it didn't reset my 6 month credit limit increase opportunity.

Ok. But assuming you are over $25k, is there evidence of a $35k rule?

Not that I know of. If you're over $25K, expect that you could receive a 4506-t. IMO that's nothing to worry about if your income supports higher limits and you list your income as it appears on your taxes.

Spent a while going over some AmEx threads. Seems $25k on one card triggers a 4506-T request. With two or more cards it seems like even with no one card over $25k, if you are pushing a total exposure of $35k-ish there can also be a 4506-T.

Actually my stated income is lower than what appears on my 1040s, but people in hell will get ice-water before I give anybody access to my tax returns.

BTW, I had a PRG card that happenstance pulled on TU (EX was frozen and I had failed to unfreeze it due to fear factor). Within the 24 hours I applied for a BCP, they pulled EX (hard) (I agreed to unfreeze and I believed that it would result in no hard pull if declined) and not only did they decline the BCP (due to an erroneous deed in lieu on my EX report that was immed removed) but the HP on EX remained. Next application for SPG resulted in another HP on EX for an earthshaking limit of $1K, my lowest ever...

TU is not reporting my three old ChargeOffs (-0- due) but all reports are reporting my mortgage in foreclosure proceedings...

My PRG is getting used and paid weekly. My AU, which is linked to my PRG, is also used heavily and paid frequently.

So the no HP on EX if declined is not a policy. In fact I asked them on the phone about it and the CSR said that he had never heard of that...

It may be an unstated policy but it is not inviolate. sob. 2 Hard Inq on EX= $1k CL.... however the TU pull was a unicorn at worst.

A 3x CLI, IS still a CLI. Just three times, bigger than the CL.

Am I making sense??

There are exceptions to the rule and I didn't know if the 61 day 3x was one. It was just a question...

I sure hope I can be like you one day... ahhh... life will be so much easier ;)
