Hello all,
It seems like forever since I have been here. In fact, it has been a few years I believe. A few moons ago, I got started repairing my credit and suddenly a divorce popped in front of me, then homelessness, and now I'm back on my feet with a great job and a place to live with extra money rolling in. My credit is still terrible and I really want it to be better.

In the past I got as far as sending validation (or was it verification?) letters to the CRA's through CMRRR and got several replies back saying they were verified. I no longer have these documents, though. I had opted out at the time and I believe that is still in effect? Also, I had all my old addresses removed I think, but I live at a new address (obviously, if you read my previous paragraph). I have done some extra damage to my credit while I was homeless. I did some ATM fraud with depositing empty envelopes and withdrawing pre-approved cash. I also over-drafted a few banks (I have a hard time remembering which ones?). I can no longer own a checking account (I have a US Bank Contour account that my paychecks go into). ChexSystems (Or is it Telecheck?....Probably both) hate me. Maybe I've done more damage on top of that, hard to remember.

Regardless, I am past that. Please slap my wrist and tell me I screwed up in a quick fashion if you don't mind. I believe that my best course of action is to get a copy of my credit reports first and foremost. I think I should also obtain both Telecheck and ChexSystems records as well. My questions are as follows:

  1. What is the best place to get credit reports currently? Scores are not important to me at all right now I believe, just the report. I believe I have already used my free annual credit report within the last 8 months.
  2. How do I go about getting ChexSystems and Telecheck reports?
  3. Is there something I should be doing before this?

Thanks, and I hope that with your advice, I can follow through with my commitment this time.

Regards,

cSquared

Thank you JayB27 for the response.

I have looked at this document prior to posting, and while it does in a way answer one of the questions I asked, it leaves a bit to be desired.

I'll elaborate. AnnualCreditReport is a great resource, but I have used the free report within a year. I am not sure exactly when that was though. At this point in time, I have to pay for a report. My question could be summed up to "which services do you recommend for a single report purchase at a reasonable price for all three bureaus?". I was looking for recommendations outside of AnnualCreditReport, unless their paid service is the best option.

Also, my other questions still apply. First and foremost, am I doing the correct first step, or should I opt out again? I am not sure if that is a lifetime thing or not.

I will use the provided link for ChexSystem and Telecheck now.

Thanks and regards,
cSquared

I use USAA-CCMP for triple pulling, daily.

There are a few different ways to get free reports from the CRAs. But if it is worth it to you, you could buy them.

Opting out again does no harm. It is usually 5 years, unless you do the permanent opt-out form, which most people don't.

Thank you. Daily pulls seems like what I should be working with in this endeavor. I will look into USAA-CCMP and once I have my reports analyzed and organized, I will investigate what my next step should be.

Thanks and regards,

Daily pulling while rebuilding is essential, in my opinion.

If you use patience throughout your rebuild, your results will be much better.

You can call each CRA and buy reports that are MAILED to you. Paper copies.

The benefit of paper copies is things like DOLA, and DOFD are typically listed on them, but

I don't find them on the electronic versions anymore (TU used to, now I don't see them when

I pull there).

Essentially it also helps you to establish the baseline, because if you know what something was on

Date #1 (your paper copy date) and then voila it changes, i.e., re-aging, or CA's playing games, then

you have a solid defense against their actions, that nobody can just change and / or delete.

Its a defense, for your offense that you're starting.

ATM fraud with depositing empty envelopes and withdrawing pre-approved cash.

I'm filing this in the back of my mind, just in case I ever fall on hard times.

welcome.

Call up the CRA as mentioned by ubercat and pay for the hard copies of your CR.

Opt out. Delete old addresses. Start triaging. Continue posting any questions in this thread.
