I think gardening is a bit overrated once you reach an excellent credit level. My profile was built by the happenstance of obtaining an AMEX card before I broke bad. Years later...bada bing, bada boom, 760 FICO score. Other than for ego purposes, it doesn't matter that much what your score is once you get past 760 or so. But I do understand the desire for a high score because I once had the goal to hit 800 myself. But after I did it was anti-climatic. Like, whoop de freakin do, and la de freakin da, The magic of 800 didn't last and now I am happy applying for cards with whatever big sign-up bonuses come along resulting in a score that floats between 760 and 785..On the other hand, I do think it is good to have goals, and it a goal of a super high score is beneficial to your life then that's great.

Tyra yes exactly. You hit it. And now it's no big deal. It is elusive, and I want it.

We always want something more, until we get it. Then we want something else.

You high rollers must always remember the inspiration you are to others.

This is a game not easily won, yet you have won it.

JayB, thanks for this thread. Gardening is hard, The things I want and the things I must do to get them.

I have a short term goal of 700+. I made it to EQ 666 (Navy approval) in Aug and then added a couple more cards to help. New accounts and utilization dropped my score to 622. I know what I need to do and I'm working on it. I have cleaned up my reports some more (Sept - Oct) and I am on a very serious mission to payoff my cards before my new accounts reach 6 months in Feb. (CLI time). I do have plans on adding a few more accounts this summer. I think I will pass 700 before then with a little help from my friend B*.

In the interest of science my AAOA is 2.2 years, AAOOA is 7 months, oldest account age is 21 years (closed 9/13), newest account 1 month and Amex member since 11/2021 (No D* for me). Stupid BK7 :beee:

Sorry guys. Mendel is right, per usual.

I'm on point today.

Hey Uber, I saw a blog somewhere about a way for you to get Star Alliance Gold for life. And with a foreign carrier so you can use United Clubs for domestic flights. It involved a RT First Class flight from Seattle to NYC on United for $700. If you are interested I will send you the link

Oh yeah. Please send that. Thanks very much!

...he also suggested that you can't stay in the 800 club without a 10+ year AAOA.

I don't remember seeing that. :dntknw:

I think your oldest account needs to be 10+ years old to hit 800, with max FICO points for oldest account at 19-20 years.

There are a lot of people here with stable 800+ scores with an AAOA much lower than 10 years.

My TU is 817 and I haven't cracked 5 years.

I thought I remembered that you hit 800 with a fairly low AAOA.

I don't think I hit 800 until sometime this year... but I wouldn't bet my tater on it without actually looking back through some historical data. Edited by cv91915
