I'm really bored on the farm....lol

Same here.

Although even if I went to the market, I probably wouldn't be able to come back with much given my current situation.

It's not even spring yet - this is the time to just relax and wait for the ground to thaw before tilling the soil.

I know I know...I was saying its boring without all the ponies, bickering, off topic convos etc etc LOL

Ponies? Ponies make good fertilizer, once it airs out and the smell goes away.

Come on now, ponies are your friends. They cheer up a boring farm!

An app spree would also bring some cheer! ;)

Afraid to ask for CLI's with all these damned inquires. It's ruining my farming strategy of growing larger limits.

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. DC

I went down to the greenhouse and looked at my budding plants - nothing yet. Not quite ready for transplanting yet. So I goes into the damp, stinky, dark tunnel where the CrapOne serves as the base for my mushrooms - the calendar, almanac, and the signs tell me its ready for my first batch of 'shrooms but it seems I'll know more in about 3-5 days.

Good luck on your fungus harvest! Hope the shrooms are huge!

I'm hoping to refinance my mortgage in July. I'd planned to work TU hard pulls for CLIs this spring, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

What I'm thinking to do instead is to transfer most of my spending to a couple cards I have with issuers that don't have great rewards, but are known to offer auto CLIs for heavy spend.
* Discover it
* FNBO Visa Signature
* US Bank Flexperks.

& maybe
* Barclays US Air.

These are all relatively new -- 4 to 8 months old. Discover gave me a $500 auto CLI at the 3 month mark, but nobody else has. But Discover, FNBO and USB are all known for regular CLIs with usage.

So I think I'll cut back usage on my mainstay of cards with high $ rewards but no auto CLIs (CSP/Southwest, Alaska, Blue Cash Everyday, Barclays Arrival Plus) and lump most of my spending onto the 1% rewards and soft pull CLI family of cards. The cost, say, of moving $4000/mo of spend from a 2% card to a 1% card is only $40/mo. It's worth this for six months of experimentation to see if I can run these credit lines up $10 or $20K collectively with heavy use. (& these aren't pure 1% cards -- Disco has the restaurant 5% coming up, US Air has a value of close to $0.02/mile, and FlexPerks is a 2% card if I buy travel in $401 increments, so FNBO is the only true 1% card). (& I'll try to convert my FlexPerks to a Cash Plus in September, which has a 2% restaurant category).

Maybe if I get really motivated I'll chart my spending and any CLIs.

Happy farming, all,

MP

The boredom on the farm got to me. Headed to the market:

Overstock-10k ( preapproved email, soft )

Discover-1000->1500(soft but disappointing)

JcPenneys-3200->4200

VS-1700->2100

The Overstock tipped me over the $100K mark!!!! It's my 5th trade line at $10k or higher. Higher limits beget higher limits with BK? Jury is still out on that.

Congrats!

Can't seem to get anyone to give me anything except Cap1.

Granted it's only 5 months since discharge but I feel left out of the party.

Patience is required. Keep plugging away with that Cap1. Eventually another lender will let you in once you've established a good payment history. The first year was painful but a good time for learning. In my case, I focused on budgeting and making sure I had plenty of cash for a rainy day.

I also didn't find CB until year 2! So I didn't know what I was missing-lol! Stay the course and it will pay off eventually.:)

At less than 6 months post-BK, I'd say you're doing pretty good, kats. You've got more than enough TL's for best FICO effect - now establish some history. I'd suggest at least 6 months of history on your newest CC before your next app. And before your next app spree, search the forum for "BK friendly" for info on which lenders want to see how much time post BK.

Thanks. My goal was to establish history with Cap1 and see how far I can get with them. My credit step increase is coming up soon and hopefully they bump me up.

My local CU said they would try and work with me so there's that.

Not planning an app spree until sometime in the fall when I'm closer to 1 year post discharge.

Not one of my best virtues, but I know where you are coming from.

It just seems like soooooo long and all this talk about high limits and great rewards are soooooo tempting.

BUT I know what I have to do for the next few months and am working on paying down Cap1.

Utilization is around 7% with them so I think i'm in a good place……..for now.

Rainy dreary Saturday here. It's sad, I've been looking at all my recent inquiries trying to figure out if I could pull an app on anything. Must. Wait. Until. Fall.

I love Chase midcycle reports. Felt great to immediately have that 0 balance on the Ritz report to Experian right away so I'm at 5% utilization right now. No change to the EX score but I think it might have an impact on my EQ.

Damn, that's too bad. It was 92 at the beach yesterday, still in the high 80's today.

And I ran far far away from the farm...to the Islands of Approvals and Bonuses. :P
