I had my Cash Rewards linked to Serve for awhile for Bill Pay

Switched my linked card to CSP to meet min. spend

Today I switched Serve back to Navy and it was recognized as a debit card

Added as debit, test loaded $1.

Doesn't appear to have processed as a cash advance yet

Have to see if CB earned when it posts

So your NFCU cash rewards CC was processed by Serve as a debit card? That is very interesting. Did you try it as a credit card and serve said it was a debit, or just load it as a debit card?

When you add a card to Serve it gives two different options, to add a CC and to add a Debit.

I'm assuming OP added as debit and it took it. They again I know what assume means..

I have been loading my Serve with a NFCU credit card as a debit card too. When I tried adding either of my NFCUs as a credit it said the card was debit, so I added it as a debit. I was able to charge and get rewards with no cash advance fee (although I was flagged for possible fraud and had to call Navy to tell them it was me making the charges, that's prob. unrelated to the debit part).

It's not just Serve. I also had this happen with my NFCU at National car rental which was an inconvenience. I think something's just wrong with some coding somewhere and I imagine they'll get it figured out eventually. Although the CSR I spoke to didn't know anything about it and I think I first noticed it over a month ago.
