Is the next step the CFPB?

Recommended Posts

I have disputed an unpaid CO account twice with the CRA and both times the OC verified the account. It is still reporting incorrectly and Experian says that they can't do anything about it because they are just reporting the information that they are receiving from the OC.

The Experian CSR was very careful with his words but he was fully aware that the reporting was incorrect when I brought it to his attention. He told me I would have to contact the OC directly and if I want to dispute the account a 3rd time, that I would have to submit relevant documents from the OC proving that the reporting is incorrect.

One section of my report says the last payment was made on September 29th (Look in the bottom left corner of the attached file). It doesn't show the year on my report but I know from my personal records (copy of the check) that that it was 2009. So I asked the Experian rep what year the last payment was made and it he told me "September 29th 2009."

The payment history on the report doesn't even start until January 2010. If you look at the picture below, you can see that it is reporting as "OK" and "xx days late" on and off in 2011/2012. How is this possible if my last payment was in 2009????

So I brought the error to his attention and it is blatantly obvious that the information is incorrect, yet they are still allowing it on my CR. So do I just file a CFPB complaint against Experian with copies of my CR as proof?

Not only do they have the DOFD incorrect, by their own reporting the OC didn't charge off in 6 months after their version of the DOFD, which is required. They took a year to do it.
