I am currently trying to improve my credit score. I have made some mistakes in the past and am paying for it now. My credit score is currently 550, up from 510 in July. I currently have 3 accounts in collections, none of which will do pay for delete. 2 of them are hospital bills, one for 1330.00 and one for 470.00. I am currently disputing them, hoping that they will not reply back to transunion. The 3rd is a bill to Sprint that is also in collections. I owe 1200.00 and have negotiated them to do a settled in full amount of 517.00.... Is this a good amount and idea. I have other negative marks on my credit, but all of them are closed. I currently have one active Credit Card with up to date payments. My horrible credit score is the result of being careless when I was younger and I really want to fix it. Any advise on how to handle this would be great.

for medical, use WhyChat's method.

who are you negotiating with for the settlement on the Sprint bill?

if a collections company, stop now. only pay Sprint directly.

I will contact sprint, thank you.

I contacted Sprint and they informed me that the debt is now owned by the credit collection people. If this is the case, shouldnt the debt collector be able to do a pay for delete? Sprint said that I can pay them (sprint) in full or that I can do a settled in full with the collector.

Here's your solution for the hospital bills - http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

As for the medical bills. I am currently disputing them through transunion. Should I wait to get the results before sending this letter?

And as for the Sprint bill? They are saying that they cannot pay for delete, the company is enhanced recovery services. The are offering me a settled in full of 517.00 out of 1200.00. Sprint itself says they cannot accept anything less than a full payment and cannot delete either... What should I do? Is a settled in full a good idea? The debt is only about 2 years old.

If Sprint is not reporting, walk in to a Sprint store and PIF. Make sure you get a receipt.

I have a similar situation with VZW. Can you elaborate on how walking into a B&M store and paying a X year old bill will work? My only concern is it being updated to a paid collection.

If the OC accepts payment, they have to recall the debt from the CA. The CA no longer has a valid debt to collect and must delete.

I asked for a dv letter and they sent an email to me. On my credit report is says enhanced recovery service but also say Sprint, so Im not sure as to who actually has it. Enhanced says they work for Sprint but did not purchase the debt? Not sure who is actually reporting?

Enhanced Recovery has it. They are required to list the OC.
