I'm working on a similar issue and the short answer is they don't but it depends on the situation..

If the account is still open, my opinion is you can try and write a goodwill letter to the creditor. Some have had success with this in the past.

If the account is closed and paid, you can try to dispute with the CRA when the late payment you are referencing is aged at 7 years. Be advised the CRA will likely delete the entire TL.

if the account is closed and charged off, check the "remains on report until XXX date" (If it doesn't show, call the CRA and simply ask). If the date they give you is later than the date of the 30 day late, you can try and dispute the TL as obsolete citing the DOFD as the date of the 30 day late.

Good luck :)

Your TL should revert to positive at seven years from the most recent late. At that point your entire history should show on-time.

This is interesting, this has happened to me with a foreclosure and after the 7 years it went to positive but still says in the remarks Foreclosed, I disputed it, because I thought it still appeared to be a negative, maybe I shouldn't of.

Some negatives

like COs CAs and foreclosures

will never be positive.

That's kind of what I thought, my foreclosure actually did go to the "Positive Catagory" on EQ. I disputed it anyways, all payments showed on time for the last 7 years, but the comments section said 120 days late, foreclosed.
