Up late again reading Creditboards and have a question. I am going to do an app spree in November and want to get a few Chase cards. I am pre-approved currently for their Freedom and Slate, but I also want to app for their Ink w/ the 70k bonus. Yet I don't wanna screw up my potential pre-approvals either, any advice?

I apped for both slate and freedom because of prequalified success. Given the 7-10 day response so I called the backdoor number. Talked to CSR who did not like that I had apped for both cards and told me that I would get a letter. Two days go by and not satisfied, I called the backdoor number again. Talked to a different CSR who was very nice. She put me on hold and approved me for my choice of cards at 2.5K. I told her that I like the word freedom so I wanted that card. Put on hold again, she comes back and tells me that she had made a mistake and processed the slate card. Asked me if I wanted to change the card to freedom since it was my request, however it would take an extra day or two for my request to "build". I told her not to bother and issue the slate. Again these were different CSR with different decisions. I did receive my AA letter from Chase that states I had too many applications as a reason for the denial.

I app'ed for 2 in one day. EX frozen, only one TU hard pull for both. And instant approvals for both.

After the first approval, I checked the pre qualifier again and there were still some CCs listed, so I figured why not?

This is going to be a YMMV situation. Just have to decide if it is worth the hard. And if EX is frozen and it is a TU hard, then it doesn't really matter. :)

And from the sound of it from the post above, if you don't get an instant approval you might want to wait before apping for another.

This is huge. I save my EX hits for Amex. And I was looking at skipping my next Amex to get a Chase card instead. But if I can get Chase to pull TU, then I will get both. Probably app for the Ink Bold before they discontinue it. 50K points. Already have the Ink plus. I am a big fan of the Ultimate Rewards points.

Not sure about 3 chase cards in one day. IMO, that is pushing it too much. Might be a good question to ask underwriting, if they even have a policy on it, or it is automated to decline, or what. Last time, I did 2 chase cards same day, got an EX, and 2 TU pulls.

Never app for a second card unless you get instant approval on the first.

At the very least call the UW and get the first one pushed through before you app a second.

I haven't been bold enough to app a third even with 2 instant approvals.

Thanks for the advice Shifter! As always it is greatly appreciated and will definitely be adhered to  As it is I am nervous enough with Barclay's.

Wow, 2 apps one TU Pull, interesting. Credit Analyst said there was no way for me to accomplish this at all. can you share your process? What Pre Qual site did you use? I can't seem to find one except for the UK site. Thanks.

You should have taken the freedom slate is a sock drawer card or used for building, no rewards only benefit is no interest for 15 months.

You are right. So i apped for Freedom, Citi Double Cash, and AMEX Costco yesterday .......

APPROVED!!

I am shocked that I have all the cards that I wanted right now. I now have three Chase cards (Amazon, Slate and Freedom)
