I have Sallie Mae and Rewards Plus, but I really want the US Air 40,000 mile Bonus. The limit of Rewards Plus is only $1500, and i am not using it. Should I cancel Rewards Plus and apply for US Air, or is 3 cards possible with Barclays. 679 FICO and 19 months out of BK

I think if they decline you you can recon and tell them to open it and take give you the limit on the card you want to close,

I'd apply from US Airways website while checking out an expensive ticket.

This is what I would do... but only if I got an instant decline and called for recon and the analyst wouldn't do it any other way.

I say go for it. CV and I both have a theory that approval requirements are looser (I also think for CLIs) on cards that they are pimping really hard. They seem to be pushing both the US Airways and Arrival+ right now.

Well, my theory is for new card approvals, not for CLIs, but you may be onto something. :D

It would make me nervous, but I am tempted to go for #3.

I opened number 2 in June, number 3 in July (with a sub-700 TU FICO) and felt a little gutsy when I broke 700 on TU this month and requested and received CLIs on 2 and 3.

Are you trying to push me over the edge?

I am considering Sallie Mae or Williams Sonoma.

If you're looking for me to talk you down, look elsewhere.

Why Williams Sonoma? Read what I posted about the theory that CV and I have.

Last time I looked, they had rewards. And, things I like.

I will check US Airways and Arrival.

It's like the edge is getting closer.

IMO there are only a few Barclays cards worth having long term for most people. Other than that, they are great for signup bonuses and adding additional CLs that can be later combined.

Sallie Mae seems a good deal?

I agree. I have no idea what the approvals standards are though, and they obviously don't market that card the way they do the Arrival+ and US Airways cards. It's not even on their website.

If you could see my TU report, you would know that it still is. Instant approval for $5K (TU 699) in July and a CLI last week to $10K via the luv button after $10 of spending plus paying the AF.

I need to banish a couple inquiries and then I will try.

I wouldn't get the Williams-Sonoma card either. I am prone to wandering into that store and buying some $500 appliance that does something like make donut holes, but you'd have to do a LOT of spending at that store to justify having a dedicated card for it... I'm not big on leaving rewards on the table, but for one store and infrequent purchases I don't bother.

I was looking at that Williams Sonoma CC too. Mendel and CV talked me out of it.

Arrival is on my list.....

and US airways (now that I see you guys can't stop talking about it)

Make sure you get the Arrival+ for the bonus and then downgrade it in year 2.

$89 is a bargain for 40,000 miles.

I will look into this or Sallie Mae. It is nice to know you can have more than 2.

I can't remember who it is, but I've seen at least one person post that they have 5. That might be pushing it for most people.

Good to know. They don't waive the AF the first year?
