I am looking to purchase a 2nd home soon and i realized i need to cleanup my credit report. Amongst all other things I have one medical collection that just reported a couple of months ago. This obviously has the biggest impact on my scores and has become #1 priority.

Details below

NCO FINANCIAL SYSTEMS

Unfortunately, Ive just paid this with the Original Creditor (Medexpress) and realize I should have waited to go through the process per Whychats HIPAA Letter program..

Anyways Steps Ive taken so far:

1. Opted out

2. Pulled all three reports

3. Spoke to billing at Medexpress (OC) and they are going to put in a request to remove from reports but said they cannot "guarantee" anything. Did I make a big mistake speaking to Medexpress rather than sending a GW letter? The first person i spoke to refused, then i requested to speak to the supervisor who heard me out and agreed to put in a request. even said she would call me when she had resolution.

4. Drafted out Pre HIPPA Dispute letters to be sent to CRA's on 09/11/2014 using Whychats format

I will post my updates as they become available and i am hoping the experts on this forum can hold my hand through this process..

Thanks in advance.

You should be OK, the worse that will happen is that the account will change to a "paid" collection, which will likely not make that much of a difference if it is a VERY recent account.

The "age" difference of 1 year will be insignificant and if it appears as a paid account it will not interfere with your purchase.

Make sure you are opted out to prevent random scam scum CAs poisoning your reports as soon as they see you are mortgage shopping.

Also, are you saying a recent paid collection won't impact my score as much as an unpaid? So you think my score will go up just because I paid it?

I don't think your score will go up because you paid it, but neither will it go down if it changes to a paid collection.

Hence my though that i need this to disappear :)

Well, if you have opted out and deleted old addresses you can send the initial dispute letter to the CRAs

It might get you a total deletion

I do NOT suggest you contact NCO. They are already being contacted by the CRAs in response to your initial dispute letter. The ONLY correspondence you would ( MIGHT) need to have with NCO would be the medical DV if the CRAs do not delete.

Contact by phone with a CA is a recipe for further problems.

Have you already disputed the account?? If so, and the accounts were verified by 1 or more CRAs, you now should send the medical DV to the reporting CA. ( use this if it is REPORTING as a paid collection)

and as soon as you have proof of receipt, send the CRAs this:

As I said in my post of 9/10-- the WORSE that will occur is that it will report as a paid collection-- and that should NOT affect your score at all because your initial unpaid account was so recent. You MIGHT want to just leave it alone instead of spending all the time and $$ on postage.
