CLI New Card - Before Activation

Hello is it a good idea to ask for a CLI before or while activating your new card? Or is it better to wait a few months. Sometime when the credit app is approved it says if you'd like to inquire about the limit, you can do so when activating.

Policies for this vary by issuer. Which card is this?

You can always ask while activating, but be aware your credit may be pulled again. You can inquire whether another report will be required to do so...but even then, the csrs often don't know the difference between a soft pull and a hard pull. So, be ready for anything.

Amex should yield up to a 3x CLI after 61 days from account opening... but nothing before.

 

Definitely ask for 3x.

I've recieved a CLI about 1 week after account opening, I did it online and recieved an instant approval. 2k increase.

Same here - called right after approval and got a small increase at least. They told me they were pulling my report again, but there was only one hit for the initial approval.
