Anyone have luck joining VyStar Credit Union through a nonprofit membership?

I joined the Jacksonville Historical Society which was supposedly in the field of membership, but never got application approved. Never got any notice as to why, they don't return my phone calls. Has anyone had success getting into this CU while not living or working in their Florida area of membership? They offer free outgoing wire transfers for members age 50+.

Judging by other threads concerning credit unions that got carpet bombed by CB'ers it could be VyStar is trying to prevent another Logix, OCCU, or Tobyhanna from occuring?

I think reading it carefully, they allow organizations within their area to join, but not members of the organization. They empahsize the community charter where you have to live or work in their area or have a family connection.

If you are 62, both Northwest Federal Credit Union and its Realtors FCU subsidiary offer free domestic wire transfers (incoming and outgoing).

Both have a Premier Checking account with free incoming and outgoing wire transfers with either a $50,000 combined loan and deposit balance or a $10 monthly fee.
