Hello. I saw a post a few weeks ago about BBVA Compass regarding EWS I was just curious if anyone has any info on this. I just opened up a checking and savings account and was curious if this account will be closed? Other banks told me no before the account was even opened so I was just curious how this may play out? any help, advice, or comments would be awesome...

I actually saw your post and opened a Savings account only last tuesday....today I spoke with a CSR no problems....even offered me a CC which I'm considering taking....I am definitely on EWS and it has caused me some denials too...so we shall see...keep us posted! I think you are probably okay.

Congratulations. Here's hoping Loss Prevention doesn't close or freeze the accounts.

Anytime you are on Chexsystems or EWS, there's a risk. The back office security team often works independently from the "front office" reps. We recommend waiting a statement cycle or two before starting direct deposit. Also, keep a backup account just in case.

Thank you I have several backup accounts...and I actually spoke with the backoff office who said because the listing was more than two years old and I was only asking for a savings account it would not be an issued. So I think I'm good.

Yep I saw those and was scared to death....so of course I'm not doing any DDs....I'll just from time to time drop 20-25 dollars in there to maintain the account. I want there CC but I'm scared to apply I think I'm going to wait a few months til I get my utilization down its about 32% now...I would like for it be under 25% before applying. But we shall see!

I always suggest that if you have been reported to EWS, not to apply for Compass. There have been many cases where the account was opened and closed at a later time

That happened to me a few years back. I had applied in a branch, the CSR ran TeleCheck on me during my application process- I was approved for a checking and savings account. Two days later- my account was closed due to their back office pulling my Early Warning Systems (EWS) report.

Ouch...that would have pissed me off.

 

FWIW I'm still in there with my savings account which I have about 50 bucks in...I still have not jumped for the CC yet, maybe January when Im officially out of the garden for a few months.
