I have an entry on Chexsystems that is almost five years old. It actually doesn't even belong to me, but rather to my father with whom I share my name. The last four digits of the SSN on the report don't even closely match mine. However, Chexsystems is steadfast in their refusal to remove it.

To that end, I have had to circumvent Chexsystems and open my accounts at banks that do not subscribe to that silly service. In my experience, there are many credit unions that do not pull Chexsystems, including NASA FCU, PSECU, PenFed, Navy Federal, Apple FCU are just a few. I know Dept. of Commerce FCU unquestionably pulls Chexsystems, as does Alliant FCU, SECU, Georgia's Own, Congressional Federal and Dept. of Agriculture FCU. Additionally, I've found from experience that Chase and Citi uses Chexsystems, but SunTrust, TD, USAA and WF do not.

I have come to realize, much to my satisfaction and surely to their chagrin, that Chexsystems' relevance and influence in the banking industry is slowly eroding. I hope this helps those of you who are stuck under the thumb of Chexsystems.

Did you send proof of your identity (copy of SSN card)? We have a powerful legal advocate in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the federal watchdog agency. Chexsystems violates the FCRA is they refuse to remove inaccurate information. Although it is close to the five year drop off, I would file a complaint. The ID confusion may resurface later.

Note: WF uses Chexsystems and EWS. They may ignore older Chex entries, but EWS is usually an instant denial. There are several options out there . . . banks, brokerage/money market accounts - and yes, credit unions. The problem is that most individuals trying to bounce back don't know about them. Unless you find a forum like this one, you can spin your wheels and rack up of a lot of inquiries.

Are you saying this is identity theft or a case of a mixed file?

Is the all the information in the entry fully correct?

Yes, there are alternatives to Chexsystems, but the problem is many people are not aware of them and they go through a lot because of constant denials.

To the best of my knowledge. From my understanding, I've got about 10 months before it drops off anyway, so I'm just planning on letting it go. I was mostly trying to add data about Nasa.

My fiancé and I have our money split across two banks and NFCU, and I have minimally funded accounts with PenFed and USAA, so I'm not actually in need of banking products and I need to let new accounts age before I app any more credit. Although I may rethink Nasa after some of the reports lately from CB members. Point is, I'm in no rush.
