Words, Phrases and Other Stuff that Annoys Me

Water heater just gave up. :(

With the water heater in San Diego replaced, I boldly boarded a flight to Mudland on Tuesday, where I arrived just in time for the AC to die.

Last year we made a last-ditch $700 repair in hopes of extending its life through the end of our indefinite ownership window for this home, but that didn't work... so I think replacement is our only option this time around.

I'll know more after the repair guy gets here in an hour.

$9,490 and we're good to go.

We're replacing the heater at the same time.

It's been dinging us for repairs every year, and it's bound to be next.

Work gets done on Tuesday when we're back from Savannah.

Now the electric shaver I keep in CA died.

It spontaneously turns itself on and runs until the battery dies.

Usually.

Other times when it's fully charged it won't turn on at all.

TAD took this thing apart last night and cleaned up some of the electrical parts, and now it's working again.

On a related note, I finally acted on the Camelcamelcamel notification that the replacement foil/blade kit dropped from ~$55 to ~$35 on Amazon recently.

A replacement set will be arriving soon so I will have a spare.

See now? Isn't it nice being married to an electrical engineer?

It has its ups and downs. Don't forget we have a Prius in the garage.

TAD will want to trade it in for a Tesla Model 3 before too long

He says he'll get a new car when the Prius hits 150,000 miles. At this rate he will be looking at 2025 models. Maybe they'll run on cat pee by then.

  • "Conversating"
  • Random overemphasized foreign-language pronunciation of words or proper names when you're otherwise speaking American English with no discernible accent: "I gave the package of puffed rice to Rrrrrrrrramone", or "I had the chicken salad on a ccchhwhasssannn"
  • "Aight?"
  • baby-bump, bump-watch

“Fur babies”

A pet is not a baby, sorry

Myself and many others on this forum would firmly, absolutely, and resoundingly disagree with your observation.

I agree with you both. I think of my cats as little people, but I have never called them "fur babies".

The diabetic meal I pre-ordered for this flight didn't materialize.

Looks like I'm having an omelette.

I'm not diabetic, I've just read that the special meals can be better so I thought I'd give it a try.

You really think an inflight meal would be better anything??

Speaking of inflight meals did I hear on the news about AA changing the width of the lavatory stall to 24" - so is that a shrinking or an expansion in an Orwellian sense?

Most of the time the meals do the job. Sometimes I just want something a bit different.

The lavatories in question are on the 737-MAX planes, which I have not yet encountered. I have, however, encountered passengers who are more than 24 inches wide. Should be interesting.

Yerssss... especially when they complain about not being able to walk up and down the aisle, go to the lavatory 4 times in a 1 hour flight, can't reach the overhead bin, and can't bend over to reach under the seats either.

AA Customer Relations gave me 5,000 miles for my inconvenience.

That's a good enough reason to order the diabetic meal right there. I know, I know, you have more AA miles than you can use, but there is always next decade.

It might take AA that long to patch their 'puters
