Okay, so I know that AU's have gotten drastically less d* love in the last year or two... but how about if a current/past Amex customer applies jointly with a person that has never had an Amex and they fight to get the account d*? Has anyone done this? Does it work? Again, I'm sorry if this has come up before- I've said it many times- I SUCK at the search feature on here.

I don't think Amex does joint accounts.

You need to add your D*nor as an AU to your Amex for the best shot at D*. Then they request D* on the AU card (it will still show up as a new account on their reports, even after the change). After they are successful, you request the change on your account.

They don't. My spouse is an AU on my SPG because of this.

The rep I spoke to the other day informed me that even though my wife's account, and her new cards say MS 84, that her AU cards on my account (also MS 84) would still only report as 2014, when she was added as AU.

So her own cards report correctly as 84, but I assume, and will find out soon, that my AU under her card will show 2014 as well...??

Anyone know something different?

That's correct. AU cards report the actual date opened.

That was my understanding before I asked the rep, but asked anyway, just in case....

I only mention it in this thread so no one else is surprised by it, since they are talking D* for AU's...

So, let me make sure I'm perfectly clear on this....

1) Apply for and receive Amex

2) Add a ~current~ Amex holder as an AU on MY card

3) Have AU d* THEIR card

4) Request that MY Amex report the same date as my AU's date.

I need to take every precaution to not screw this up.

Correct, but ask for the Member Since date to match. Never mention reporting or backdating.

My wife was an AU on my card in 94. We closed card out never used much. So we got back in with amex a few months ago & my card was D* 94. I added her as an AU again and she requested to get her D* back to 94. They did no problem. So my dad has been with Amex since like 81,82 ish. I told him about my card bla bla bla. He remined me, my step mom had made me an AU in 87 on there Amex(which they still have) when I was in high school. He even still had the card in his files if I needed it. Our swim team went to Buffalo NY, for a meet. I took card with me. So long story short, I tried 3 or 4 times on chat and they would not budge. I finally got my 87 D* a few weeks ago. So yesterday wife did chat to ask a question abut her PRG. I told her to ask if she can have her AU card on my account match mine. He asked what was my year? She told him 87. He said no problem. Next day her D* IS 87! Also she has her own cards as well now, PRG & Delta Gold. So its getting harder, but still possible. Funny thing is we didn't even know each other in 87, She just asked to have our D* match. Now if I wanted to push my luck, my old card MSD says like 82 when my dad opened account. It was 87 when I was added, cause they wanted me to have the card incase I needed it. I was 10 in 82 so that would of looked weird.. lol
