Any suggestions of best plan of attack? This has never been disputed. Would it make sense to start with Gila and offer to pay more fees to get this off? Unfortunately, they just paid it when they got notice of the account even though they thought it was not valid, but thought it was easier to pay them off to make them go away.

But that link is if you paid the OC, in this case, I believe the collection agency was paid.

Can I do a Texas Debt Validation (DV) on a debt being reported as paid?

Well, we decided to try the Texas DV and simultaneous dispute with TU (one-two punch). Got a response from Gila that did not seem to fully quality as Texas DV, although it was in that direction, but TU did respond with a deletion on the first try, so bottom line, success!
