So basically I have about 12 old Direct Student Loan Lates through the Department of Ed (each loan reports separately fml), these lates were made because I was irresponsible and never realized they weren't still in deferment. They have all since been consolidated and sold to Great Lakes. Anyhow, I have multiple 90-120 lates on these old student loans and I've found no way to deal with them. I went onto EQ/EX and disputed all lates as "never late". As of now the investigations are pending.

After doing more reading today, I've learned that because of my large amount of mass disputes I'll probably be flagged as a "frivolous disputer" and prevent me from disputing in the future with CRAs? Can't someone offer me some advice?

wait it out..... do not dispute those TL's for 60-90 days again. Focus on other items that need fixing on your report.

concentrate on paying bills on time going forward.

Stick around here and READ READ READ and develop a plan of action using the vast amount of knowledge contained in these boards. Ask questions when you get stuck, use the Google Search at the top of the screen to assist in narrowing topics down.

After 60-90 days are up, implement that plan.

Even if a CRA marks them as frivolous, after time, you will be able to dispute again or word the dispute in such a way that they must address your dispute concerns. no worries.

Stick to paper disputes for almost all actions with the CRA's/CA's/OC's unless specifically mentioned as an accepted practice by a majority of the folks around here. You will be fine. Credit Repair is a marathon, not a sprint.

Yea, that's what I've gathered Mendel. Kinda why I just said f it and disputed them all. They are really killing my score, basically being late is like x12 (due to them all reporting separately) compared to the one lates you'd get with a CC. I was hoping because all these loans are now closed, it would work in my benefit...but it's doubtful.

Just took a look at my report for ya. The lates are from Nov 2011-Jan 2012...it shows 10 direct loans with 5 lates each. So basically 50 lates. Worse than I even thought :( Man this is gonna haunt me for a while. Is it even possible for me to rebuild around this?

Look at my sig. I have about 40 student loan baddies (loans and collections) on my reports from 3 universities. Yes, you can do it. If you have other negatives, focus on them first. From my experience with recon calls, UWs are willing to overlook the SL problems if you have a recent, positive history. They can also see that 1 mistake is dragging down your scores with multiple accounts.

Do you have any open cards?

When I first started out disputing, I did the same thing. Disputed several trade lines online AND had CMRR letters in-flight to each of them AND faxed. Basically, complete overkill was an understatement in my case. However, there's a difference between "frivolous" disputes and being very persistent.

Going forward, be sure to keep track of what you dispute and the reasons, as inconsistency in reasons can come back to haunt you. I have proof from TransUnion Execs. that they maintain dispute records and reasons and will make you aware of them once you reach that level. Luckily, I've always maintained my ground (reasons) on every dispute. My overkill rounds did not adversely affect the results of an (re)investigation.

As always, YMMV greatly.

I did that in the past and worst case scenario (in my case) is that they just report as a legitimate claim but IF they dont then they'll get removed. Sometimes its a risk that you have to take and just hope for the best. If that fails then like others have said, you should focus on strengthening your credit around those and just wait the 7 years for them to fall off. Thats what i did with my foreclosures and my credit score jumped up almost 150 points instantly.

Just wanted to say that I feel your pain on the SL's baddies. By next spring, those will be my ONLY remaining baddies and they are not due to age off until 2016. Otherwise, I am in pretty good shape for June 2015. The worse part is the multiple accounts, so it looks a LOT worse than it should... wishing you luck in getting at least some progress with the online dispute. I did the same with TU in May and resulted in 5 deletions. Not bad!

Maybe your experience has been different than mine, but I have found that even with lower scores and a lot of student loan baddies that UWs will overlook it if you have a perfect recent history.

Update: Hey guys, thought I'd post some results I've gotten so far. To my disbelief Equaifax deleted all late payments from my 12 students loans...as you can imagine i'm pretty happy :) Still waiting to hear from Exp/Trans.

That's great progress!!!!

I've disputed a total of 14 trade lines on my Equifax report, and kept disputing the same ones every 60 days or for the last year and a half. I was furious because when one trade line would get deleted, I saw another one got added (debt collection agency sold the debt and thus re-aged it). It was somewhat of a gamble - some disputes one or two and sometimes even three or four trade lines were deleted; some times one got deleted and another got added; and sometimes NOTHING changed.

I just checked my Equifax several weeks ago and I have ZERO trade lines on my report. It's as if I started fresh with a clean slate, but I still have 4 hard inquiries on the report, but 2 of them will fall off by end of year...

The credit reporting war is one of attrition; either YOU or THEY will tire out first. Just stay consistent with it.

Update:

All student loan lates have been removed from all 3 CRAs! That's 50+ lates per credit report...gone :)

I guess I didn't make a mistake when I first posted this topic, I may have just gotten lucky...but for all those who have been discouraged trying to get Student loan lates removed, it's worth a shot. Transunion/EQ just deleted all lates...left the credit lines open...EXP deleted all the credit lines.

Now i've got some civil judgments to take care of ;)
