I started the HIPPA process from an old medical collection on my TU CR. I sent the dispute letter to TU. Today I received a call from the CA regarding this acct. Went to voicemail but I'm wondering if I should speak to them. If so, what should I say? Don't want to mess up the HIPPA process. Thanks in advance!

Wait for WhyChat to confirm, but I would prep the Medical DV letter. If WhyChat agrees, then sending that letter to this CA will stop the calls, since it includes words with legal grounds to cease phone contact.

Wait for WhyChat to confirm or offer another better suited solution!!!

It has been my experience that a CA would love nothing more to get you on the phone to "discuss" things. He might offer settlement and tell you he will take care of CO, which will not happen. Or he might use the opportunity to try and get you to say something he could use later. My crystal ball says that WhyChat will say " stay off the phone"'

Have you followed the guides?

Is the account only on TU??

How "old" is old-- date of service.

CAs always lie like a rug

If the account is not deleted-- send the CA the medical DV- which includes a total cease and desist and do not call

Yes I'm following the guides. The acct is only listed on TU. No other CR have it. I could only guess as to the DOS being 2009. 11/2009 is the DOFD. It was for a dentist visit for my kids that I don't believe I owed in the first place. I had dual dental ins at the time. I sent the letter to TU on 06/12 received 06/16. I haven't heard anything yet from TU. Should I wait 30 days to see if it is deleted? Longer? Then send the medical DV?

Check the "back door" of TU if you haven't heard anything from them within the next 10 days.

You go to their website and click on "new dispute" ( DO NOT ACTUALLY ENTER A NEW DISPUTE)

This will bring up your current report and you can see what is going on.

Just an update and questions...

I received a letter from TU saying that the debt was verified, etc. So I sent a DV to the CA certified and it came back as undeliverable as addressed. I obtained the address from my CR and I made sure to address it correctly. Should the next step be to send the follow up letter to the TU? Do I have to wait until I can reach the CA? I am confused as to what to do next... Any advice is appreciated!

Yes, send the follow up letter to TU,

http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE

in the area where the proof of delivery is referenced, replace it with this:( include copy of the envelope with the undeliverable as addressed notice)

I have disputed this unknown medical account with the reporting Collection Agent,( copy enclosed with notice of being undeliverable),as per your instructions in your response of xx/xx/xxxx to my dispute of xx/xx/xxxx and have had no response as the address you provided is invalid..
