No, Amazon really did raise the minimum for a gift card with email delivery from $0.15 to $0.50. I don't think it's funny at all.

I meant the op posted as a joke. The news is true.

Amanda, the reason is that anytime you make a purchase with anything but the card offering the maximum reward you are giving up something. So you want to make as small a purchase as possible to keep any other card active.

 

And some deposit accounts require a minimum number of debit transactions to avoid fees, earn interest, or earn bonuses. You also want to minimize debit card usage.

 

The $0.15 Amazon GC was one of the smallest purchases you could make, and it's 100% fungible if you ever shop on Amazon.
