We just received my husband's report from TU. There are two of them separated by a page that says "there is an additional report for this consumer". Is there a letter to use to have them combine them?

Should we do that before or after disputing? There are several things on there we didn't know about and are very old.

Thank you!

for the tradelines you didn't know about; are you sure these are your husbands?

how old?

Items can only stay on the credit report 7 years from the CO date, or 7 1/2 years from the DOFD leading to the charge off.

If you call TU and ask to speak to a supervisor in the United States, they'll transfer you to special handling, and they can review the two for you.

If they find one of the reports is not your husband's it'll take some time to correct, but if they are both his reports they can merge in 2-3 days.

This is how I found out last year that I had a split file with TU, as well. It took me one call, which I believe was transferred to the US call center, and 24 hours later it was fixed. On that same call, I disputed the things on the duplicate file that didn't belong, which were mine but duplicates (with obsolete info) of stuff on the newer file and also several old addresses that I'd deleted already.

Shockingly, it was all merged together in the "correct" way.

Of course, I'll add the disclaimer that YMMV. :)
