Hello All-

I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping you can all help :)

I received a voicemail today from a Sandra Taylor stating that she was going to be at my house within 3 hours to deliver papers. She called my mom's house and also my fiance's parent house as well.

When I called the number, I was told it was a litigation company in CA called Pacific Holding Alliance. It was in regards to a closed Wachovia checking account from 2006 that was overdrawn. He instructed me to call Wachovia and work it out with them. When I did they told me the account had been sold in 2007 to RJM Acquisitions and I was given their number.

I called back Pacific Holding and told them I spoke with Wachovia and was told they no longer owned the account. I asked him who his client was and who he was litigating for. He said that all he could tell me was that it was Wachovia and that I should call RJM like they suggested.

I asked him for proof of the debt. He said that he couldn't provide that because it was helping my case. He continued saying that they sub contract attorneys in each state (I'm in Pennsylvania) and that I would see all the paperwork in court. Later he said he would talk to his supervisor to see if they could mail me something and that he would call back by Wednesday.

I don't remember this checking account, I never received any mail about it, it has never appeared on my credit report. Apparently the amount overdrawn was around $500. I researched Pacific Holding Alliance and can't find any information about them.

Is this real? Will they take me to court for this?

Any information is appreciated.

  • 4 weeks later...

This happened to me today. My phone did not ring, but I had a voicemail from a Kevin Santos staying he was serving me with papers this afternoon, I called to find out what was going on.Unfortunately, it is plausible that I owe Wachovia a debt. They say the person who called was local, (I'm in GA), they're in CA. So, the local guy that called mispronounced my county's name, and they guy who supposedly answered in CA sounded JUST like the local guy. Huh. Before all this added up for me I was about to give them info to pay what I owe next week when I get paid when I got cautious and I asked for verification it was not a scam.

They sent me an email. Here is my problem with the email. It was not from the person I spoke to, Matthew Rivas. When I clicked on the name of the person who had sent the email the address was "pacificholdingallaince@gmail.com". I do not know any company that would use gmail as their email carrier (esp one that could afford to buy out Wachovia's debts), plus if you notice, in the email address, "alliance" is spelled wrong.

I guess I will wait to see if I get served. If I do I will go to court and explain.

Good reasoning on all counts. Real process servers don't call ahead. And real companies don't use gmail accounts.

I don't know if you are still around, but maybe this can assist someone else as well. But never ever give someone any payment information over the phone, unless you have setup a prepaid debit card (like Greendot) and then only load on what you need to pay the collection account. The best situation is to send a money order in the mail and never let someone pressure you into paying a debt over the phone with your primary checking account or debit card. Just any FYI. Take care.
