What Happened To The Spirit Of The Creditboards?

I miss a lot of what this board used to be. Long ago, the vast majority were in Fixer Upper mode of credit repair AND we could get so much more done than we seem to be able to do today. (Obviously, not the boards fault) I also miss George.

 

I stopped dropping by for a time because this board seemed wayyyyy tooooooo "How can I get bigger limits" and the latest joiner to the 700 or 800 club. I rarely saw posts of a newbie needing help. Then the crash happened and I seem many more posts that say "due to the crash...." And now I see the board back in helper mode.

 

Yep its just a cycle that repeats itself.... The Fixer helper mode will swing in; sooner or later. Then again there still are substantial problems in the financial system and look for news to break over the next few weeks. We are having problems in the Bond/Treasury market big time.

However, a certain sector are more aggressive with discovering deals, etc. I've learned and shared a significant amount there over the years.But there are also people giving bad advice...and lots jumping in with no clue.

Trev, by S-Together I mean credit-wise. Most of the tactics and deals there require pretty good credit to take advantage of. There is tons of bad credit repair advice (as well as general advice) to be found there for sure. I've even tried to correct some of it and usually get red. You just have to learn to take the good that each forum has to offer and ignore the garbage. The trick, of course, is learning to recognize the difference!

True enough, the deals require good credit. And some have expired their credit situation so much (due to app sprees and current BTs in place) that their newest deal doesn't pull off as well as some of us who are more conservative in their pickings.

Keeping in mind posters are coming from a variety of credit situations (majority are likely rebuilding, but several with 700+ scores and looking to keep it that way) the "free advice" has at times turned snippy and downright rude.

 

Now not that we never had these issues 8 or so years ago when I first joined...just less of them. Is it frustrating when someone comes on here asking question after question without searching? Sure...but giving a smartassed reply serves no one...just a quick reply with the link works and hopefully the poster catches on.

 

The air of judgement from some members towards those rebuilding gets old fast...but fortunately their is very little of that. Overall it's still a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable posters chipping in their insight for free. It's free advice and overall it's a good site which I still recommend daily for those interested in learning about collections, credit and financial management.

I don't like the attitude that some people have that having a high income and spotless credit with a 750+ credit score somehow makes one morally superior to someone else who is of lesser means and/or is trying to rebuild their credit. Although I suppose that probably exists to some extent on any credit related forum.

I personally welcome anyone who is feeling '' Pushed to the curb'' or ''Not included'' in regards to feeling welcomed or getting the assistance they need here on Credit Boards to contact me or another staff member. Plenty of members have already done this and were glad to help and as others have stated, sometimes it's hard to tell one's true attitude from the words they type.

 

 

 

We want everyone to feel welcomed and feel the need to visit Credit Boards on a regular basis. Whether it is to get technical assistance on a credit issue or just to kick it with the rest of the members.

For someone so proud of his crappy attitude, you have a gift for discerning the better times to trade in your opaque mask for one a lil more translucent (notice I didn't say take off the mask) and travel the High Road.
