I have an account from WI Electric that is very old. It went to collections and the CA later charged it off. About a year ago I paid the balance in full to the CA. I think it's possible that this may have hit SOL from DOFD. Who do I speak with to find out when DOFD was? SOL is 7.5 years on this right? This occurred in WI and I currently live in IL.

Another question I have is since this was a monthly payment for electric, is the DOFD the first month I stopped paying, or the last month? My roommate didn't pay the electric bill for about 4 months and it was in my name.

Have you gotten a copy of your credit report to see if it's reporting? You will either need a hard copy or the copy that you get from annualcreditreport.com to see the most detailed report. EQ will usually list the DOFD while the other two will list the month/year the item is scheduled to be deleted from your report.

yeah i have some sort of commercial report that lists entrys for all 3 bureau's from a denied mortgage. I also have trans and experian from free annual. the account was opened in 2005 and i lived at theat place for 2 years. but the delete date doesnt seem to match up right. So aside from what the report says I suppose I'll try calling WI electric.

Also I am very interested in this.

Doesn't the entry hit SOL after 7.5 years from the DOFD?

Reporting SOL. Yes.

FCRA section 605:

© Running of Reporting Period

(1) In general. The 7-year period referred to in paragraphs (4) and (6)6

of subsection (a) shall begin, with respect to any delinquent account

that is placed for collection (internally or by referral to a third party,

whichever is earlier), charged to profit and loss, or subjected to any

similar action, upon the expiration of the 180-day period beginning

on the date of the commencement of the delinquency which immediately

preceded the collection activity, charge to profit and loss, or

similar action.

I can see all the info on the reports but I would like to manually double check this through the OC's. Some of the accounts I know who the OC's are but some I do not. Can I call the CA and get the OC name? I'm not worried about being sued.

The real credit reports show the OC. EXACTLY where did you get " all the reports "?

No they don't always. This is exactly what DV letters to the CA are for! Do not call!

I got the reports from backdoor online. Each is directly from the Individual CRA.

I understand what a DV is for. But when it comes back verified how do I know if the verified info is correct without having my own records?

You should get the mailed copies direct. There is sometimes much more detailed info than the online versions.

I have older copies of the mailed copies as well. Maybe 2weeks older.

What sort of conmmunications are you calling a DV? If you're sending a true debt validation letter you're sending it to the CA reporting, correct? Does the account information they send back to you through the US Mail match what they are reporting?

It is rare for a true backdoor to not show the account details and OC. Which sites, exactly, are you calling the backdoors?

Equifax.com transunion.com experian.com.

So I should be able to figure out the OC's. My main question is can I call them and have them mail or fax me the bills that are late so I have my own record of the dofd?

I just like double checking other ppls work. That is why I passed US History in high school cause my teacher didn't know how to add up points on the exam. She put me as a C when I got an A.

Are you clicking on the baddie once you are logged onto Experian.com/disputes? Because the Original Creditor is right there. Name, address, zip, everything, but you hav e to click on the highlighted account in order to see the OC address and name.

I think you are just not looking corereclty. The chances that every single one of your baddies just happens to lack the OC name and address is slim to none, and the chances you're not looking at the right place are pretty high.

Those sites are general sites, which don't tell me what you are looking at. All three offer a range of access, and unless you are going to ai.Equifax.com with a report number, you are not seeing the backdoor.

Transunion.com also can take you to a range of places to see accounts, so again I'm not convinced you are seeing the detailed screens because of the lack of detail you've provided.

Didn't you say you also have hard copies of the real reports, obtained through the US mail? You're using the report number for access to each of the back doors? You don't see the OC name, the DOFD, anything? On Experian, you don't see the " STATUS DETAILS " field?

It normally says something like:

This account is scheduled to continue on record until Aug 2015.

Lastly, exactly to whom are you sending the letter you are calling the " DV "? Does this date match what is on your hard copies report, when the CA sends what you are calling the " Verification " in the US Mail?

I see everything you have mentioned. I have not sent any DV letters. Every single entry does not lack OC name etc.

I just want to double check all of the dofd myself. For example: let's say I have an entry on EX that states, "This account is scheduled to continue on record until Aug 2015.". I would like to see proof that the dofd was 7.5 years before Aug 2015. I believe a hospital bill dated 7.5 years before Aug 2015 would be sufficient proof.

Are you actively disputing these medical accounts using Why Chat's HIPAA method?

Why do you think the DOFD is important, If you're actively disputing and you know you're past your state legal SOL?

I am extremely excited to finally be able to say I am starting whychats hipaa process tomorrow.

I am asking these questions because I am curious and enjoy understanding things inside and out. In the event that I disagree with the listed DOFD, I want to be prepared. Will this ever occur in my lifetime? Probably not, BUT maybe since I have helped out friends with the knowledge I have aquired, it will come in useful.

Now I understand. I hope all those baddies are obliterated !!!
