nysbadmk8
You don't tell them you never lived there... You tell them that you worry about ID theft and that you've already notified these creditors of your new address long ago but you can't help it if they don't update it. I tried that. Explaining how I was afraid of identity theft/fraud since I now live on the other side of the country. He just kept recommending a 90 day credit freeze. Ugh... Go back to the first page. Re-read, Follow it word to word. It works.
JKBman
OK - question for the pros on here about this: First, this works like a charm. Don't deviate from the script. The phone jockeys can smell weakness. It's like grandma's chocolate cake - don't add your own stuff, do what the script says and POOF it works like the genie from Aladdin. Here's my question: They wouldn't delete 2 addresses - 1 has 2 accounts reporting to it, they're old and scheduled to fall of 3/2015, so I think I may just leave 'em then let 'em fall off by themselves. Plus they're positive trade lines so whatever. The other address they won't delete is the sticky wicket. It's reported due to 2 state tax liens - obviously, I need the addresses deleted to be able to dispute the liens as not mine, but they won't delete the addresses since they're tied to liens. It's like a double helix of hell. Any advice? Will the 3 week call work for this as well? Anyone have success with a public record reporting an address and get EX to delete? I would follow it, tell them that you sent them letters CMRRR, and you received your green tickets back. Be nice, but blunt- Its not your address, and you've done your due diligence to inform everyone of your correct address.
CreditNewb15
Not to rain on the parade, but I actually submitted a dispute before I really knew what I was doing about an address associated with my only negative account. Experian deleted the address but not the negative. Should I try to get the negative deleted now? It's been about a month since they deleted the address. EDIT: Does anyone have the Equifax number? I have my report number but don't have the phone number to call. Edited February 18, 2015 by CreditNewb15
CreditNewb15
I know this thread is for EX, but I thought I'd share my experiences with EQ and TU. Equifax- called the backdoor number from the backdoor thread. ME: I'm calling because there is an inaccurate address showing up on my credit report and I'm worried about identity theft. What should I do? REP: Would you like me to delete the address or place a fraud alert on your profile? ME: I guess because there has been no fraud, just delete it. REP: OK, I will submit for deletion. You will be notified within 30 days once it has been deleted. Total time on phone: <7 minutes Transunion- called the number on my report ME: I'm calling because there is an inaccurate address showing up on my credit report and I'm worried about identity theft. CreditNewb15
I just accidentally opened a dispute with TU over the phone somehow. They removed the address associated with my negative yesterday, no questions asked. I didn't want to dispute yet because I haven't gathered myself yet, but we'll see what happens. Now they are expecting documentation from me to support the idea that the negative "is not mine". I have no info except that there is no record of my living at that address. Great. I'm curious if they'll bring up the address thing. Edited February 19, 2015 by CreditNewb15

Yes hubby got an old address deleted off experian tied to a PR and at same time the address came off so did the PR. He did have many addresses on his report that were not his so that could be why it was easier but he did lose about 10 old good lines from this so be prepared. I'm assuming the PR did not have his social tied to it. We are now trying to have it removed from LN and then dispute off TU and Equifax
JPerry115
Just got off the phone with TU and the rep said he removed all old address and that my report will only show my current address. I was also told that I will receive a copy of my report and confirmation of the changes. Now just waiting on my EX report to arrive in the mail and then it's let the cleaning begin. I'm calling EX before lunch today (address already removed, going to first ask to delete neg account early). If they won't delete the neg account early, I'm going to hang up and call back. Dispute as "not mine" because the associated address has been removed from all 3 CRAs. Probably still on LexNex and other data miners though, so I'm not convinced it will work. CreditNewb15
Address was deleted off EX but I found out that my social is tied to the neg account so there is no way they will delete as "not mine" based on the addresses not matching. Imma make it rain trick
I have been battling with one TL that is tied to an old address from 5 years ago. I am in the hunt for a mortgage and while I still qualify, this one settlement haunts me. I tried multiple times, following the script, and no one would budge. However, the rep I called today I went through the same and he said the words "well if there is an error we can fix it if it's small". So I told him the address should be 411 instead of 5411. My question is: Will this have any effect at changing the address ID for that address? Just curious if that makes it futile or would be a possibility. Equifax successfully removed this tradeline but TU and EXP continue to report it.

So now the name won't be an exact match to the names on my credit reports. Someone mentioned that it was fraud (it is, I can't believe I didn't even think about what I was doing). I disputed the TL online and am waiting to hear back from all 3, including EX.

It's a very old address that they required me to mail the card to since I couldnt get it to my PO Box even at that time. Well I just looked and the TL no longer has an address associated with it and the "new" address is a totally different address ID number. Going to try and get this TL removed now! vandiar
Yes absolutely. The guy I talked to was very helpful. Were any of the addresses removed tied to negative accounts? How many did he remove? Yes!! Most of them had negative tradelines associated with them. In fact, the one I was most concerened about how about 6 negative tradelines associated with it. I told him, just like another poster here had said, it was associated with an ex girlfriend and she was bat s*** nuts. He sounded like a young guy and definitely was able to relate. It was the first one he removed for me. His name is Damen from "Team Impact" FYI. He removed about eight of them total. He finished removing the ones left over from from the prior EX agent that wouldn't remove the rest because they were associated with trade lines.
