jaybird47
Thank you so much! It worked. She got rid of misspelled names, all phone numbers, 5 addresses, some medical CA's attached to! Some from 25 years ago in another state! Only one left - an old out-of-state PO box. I think she just missed that one. It even says social security deleted. Didn't know there was a problem there but I'll take it. I'll call back tomorrow to get rid of the remaining PO box. I feel shower fresh! MegaDebt
can anyone shed light on why removing old address is best for your Credit history? i have a few that are on my reports but dont know why i want to remove them. thanks in advance
Mido
can anyone shed light on why removing old address is best for your Credit history? i have a few that are on my reports but dont know why i want to remove them. thanks in advance To my understanding when you delete Old addresses then Start your Initial dispute with the CRA they will look for matching data such as (Addresses, Names, etc..) or back-up information and every address you live at or lived at (they all have a unique Identification number) Let's say for example, you lived at 123 Main strret and this particular address has an Identification Number of (123) and Let's say you have TL or account linked to this particular address so when you Delete this old address and later dispute the account, the CRA system will look for matching data but the it will come back negative because the address that is linked to the account was deleted so there is no matching data. Anyone of the folks here correct me if i am wrong.
TSGbossman
Has anyone's credit score improved after getting these deleted?
TSGbossman
I just did this. Got 10/15 addresses, 3/3 phone numbers, 2/4 employer and 5/7 incorrect name entries removed. My previous address couldn't be removed because its associated with an account on my credit file. I'll call back in 3 weeks and try this again. whipped
Called them this morning. Pleasant woman with good English answered & in return I also spoke slow, clearly and sounded very concerned about all the information that was on file. She couldn't delete the last address I lived (tied to old accounts) but was able to remove 3 old addresses (I have no idea where it came from *tsk tsk*). Removed three of the employer info. No one needs to know that So the battle for the one old address continues. EQ was my enemy but now it's becoming EX with only this address issue. Cherub54
Well it sure has been years since I have been on this board. I am glad to be back. Seems things have changed in the way of "clean up". So, I have quite a few old addresses and an ex married last name that need to be removed. I already sent a dispute and of course received the same " we cant remove because associated with tradelines" blah blah. I will contact EX today use the method posted here and hope for the best. Thank you all for the enlightening information.
dmills
I am going to share EXACTLY how I got 6 Old addresses remove from EX EVEN WITH THE OLD ADDRESSES ATTACHED TO REPORTING TRADELINES 1st Call- Tell the operator that your concerned about the false addresses on your report, they will then ask which ones are false... Approach this one by one, Either answer you never lived at that address, Or its associated with a family member, but NOT you. They will remove everything that ISNT attached to a tradeline- When they say they cant remove an address because its currently reporting on a tradeline, ASK WHICH ONES, write them down, tell them have a great day! 2nd call- 3 WEEKS LATER- Start it off the same way, tell them you want to remove false information on your reports. Give them the address, they will retort- No we cant its reporting on so and so tradeline... Answer like this- " Yes I know, I sent them a letter telling them to update their records 3 weeks ago, Certified mail, They received it, I've waited this long for them to update" If you then get anymore push back ( I did ) You tell them this- I have done everything I could to update this creditor, If they have not taken action to update the tradeline, that doesnt mean the information isnt false, and It doesnt mean you should continue reporting this false information. Make your case, BE FIRM. Thats verbatim how I did it.... Old addresses, Incorrect Name spelling, Spouse information, etc. My report ONLY reports my current address. This worked perfectly! BeenAlongRoad
First of all, congrats to all of those who have had success with this approach! I have followed the script to a "T" three times now and am getting denied each and every time. They don't seem to care that I've sent certified letters to the creditors asking them to update their records. They are hung up on the fact that the address is tied to TL on my account. Any suggestions or have they changed policy recently?

katemallory
nysbadmk8, is there a reason one should delete all previous addresses? If you answer I hope I get your response... sable
Awesome. Will try this first thing Monday. I've had luck with TU deleting all old addresses, but EX didn't budge. Cherub54
It has been a very long time since I have been on this board and glad to be back. Much has definitely changed over the years in the way of cleaning up credit. I was able to have all old addresses, my previous married name and phone numbers removed from EQ thank goodness, the task is EX as I was able to have a few old addys removed so still working on that one. TU still working that one too. Onward and upward.
LisaTurtle
I was able to get rid of a few addresses by disputing online, but had to call for most. This helped me delete 5 more. Only 1 sticky one left where I never lived (it's a family member's address), and hoping to get that off. That address is associated with four old accounts that are all closed/in good standing, so I'm not sure if they would even be able to update the records at this point. Kanelive
I have an old address that are tied to a majority of my accounts- student loans/credit cards, ect. Never really had the need to change address due to the it being a family home past through siblings. Now that im trying to remove some negative from report. Just around the first of the year i recently change my address with all creditors. I called and disputed online about a month ago but was told address tied to some accounts. Im kicking myself for not reading this post before starting . My main question is can i call stating that my father and i have the same name and that somehow a few of his accounts Appeared on my report in the past(TRUE) and i want the address removed? Or should i stick with the script from the start of the post.. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
DeadMoneyDrew
I just called Experian to delete all of my old addresses, and I got quite possibly the nicest customer service rep that I've ever spoken to. He plowed through all of my addresses and deleted them, only asking a couple of questions in the process. He told me that I should see an update within 48 hours. No declining to delete addresses because they were reported by a current trade line, no grilling me about the reasons for deleting addresses, none of those things that some of the rest of you have reported. DeadMoneyDrew
Also did this issue and my main man abraham helped me out with deleted 4/4 old addresses with NO issues! Good to hear. I got the final decision letter today. All old addies deleted except for one that is so old as to be irrelevant. Whoo hoo! DebtDave
Would you recommend calling the CRAs to delete the addresses rather than mailing a letter? Looking to delete 4 from EQ and 5 each from TU and EX: 1 is parents address, 1 is college address, and 2 or 3 are incorrect variants of current address. String
I have an address that is tied to my Ex-Wife who moved to another state. The address is hers and is tied to an account we once jointly held. The account is good, but is now closed. What's the best way to get rid of this?
