Thanks Bull & Tweak!!

I was just posting on another forum how I love straightforward answers!!!

Even when the right answer is complicated, I get frustrated to start all over again w/ another layer of research.

I will call Experian on Monday & report back.

FYI, I tried to start a dispute via their website. I had the idea of disputing at least the addresses not tied to any accounts, and some phone numbers. No matter what I chose to dispute or what option I gave it told me I had to call. Not sure if that's normal, or if I use too old a report number or something.

Interesting. You might try to BD your way in and dispute that way. I could be wrong, but I thought there was a way to dispute personal information on EX online.

I have gotten the same "call us" message from EX online when trying to dispute personal info.

Calling is good for addresses with EX (but NOT for disputing negative tradelines - for anyone else reading).

Don't give them your email address.

Request that they mail you an updated credit report when they complete their "investigation".

You could also dispute the addresses by mail with EX, but this will take up to 30 days and the phone call is usually quick and easy with them.

Good luck!

Bull & Tweak, you guys are the best!!

Yeah, there's a website & a process. Just whenever I selected something & hit confirm, I got the red error msg to call. Seems like it would work, and that I was doing it right, just didn't actually work in the end.

Not problem, I can call on Monday. This is just for the sake of an uncluttered report, and the long shot that the lack of that one old address will prevent that JDB from coming out of the woodwork w/ the mortgage application.

Opt out.

Deleting addresses is a good idea - do this first.

Then, if you have time, do a test mortgage app with another lender.

This will bring out any JDB zombies lurking in the wings, and give you time to get rid of them before your real mortgage.

Good luck!

Yup opted out back in Feb or March, this is the last of it. Getting the address deleted from EX. Did TU & EQ last week. Probably applying for the mortgage in about 2 weeks. Still thinking about where to pull money from, weighing my options w/ cashing out a small surplus 401K. If it doesn't work, then this will be the test for next year. But I'm really hoping it just works.

Thanks again!

I tried calling Experian today, I said that the address is associated with a family member but is not me. She then asked if I'd ever lived there, which I responded yes, as a child, but it should not be on my credit report. She refused to remove the address.

What do I do now.

HUCA = hang up call again

Just say it is inaccurate. Don't tell them you ever lived there.

Which creditor is reporting it?

Look at the EX address identifier numbers on your report.

No creditor should be reporting a childhood address -- unless you actually had credit before you were 18.

I called back, got the TL story finally.

I've called one of hte trade lines, they said they cannot change my address because the account is closed and has been for a few years. Do I actually need to send a certified letter? What is my next course of action? I've updated my FedLoan, so that TL will be null shortly, leaving a CareCredit account that was closed.

I assume the Fed Loan and CareCredit have negatives reporting -- or else EX would have removed the old address tied to them.

Go back and read the first post in this thread.

You do not need to actually send a certified letter.

No, actually. I'm trying to get a bankruptcy off though. The Fed Loan is still in deferment, no delinquency. Care Credit was closed just before the bankruptcy because it was co signed with a boyfriend and we wanted his credit clean.

  • 3 weeks later...

Has anyone had an issue lately with calling in and getting the same CSR? I followed this method and had no problem getting one address deleted in about 5min. It had about two negative TLs associated with it. When I called back a few days later to delete my last remaining address with about 5 negative TLs associated with it I got the same guy and he seemed really pissed this time. He told me it was illegal to delete it and that it takes 60 days for the creditors to update (I told him I updated 30 days ago). I am wondering if I just had bad luck or if they are somehow routing me to this same guy. What do you all think? Should I wait 30days and say they still haven't updated or just HUCA until I get someone else?

I've found the better course of action when they refuse to delete this (same happened to me) was to tell them the street number is wrong.

Example: 1234 Butterball way

My line: "I already contacted the companies associated with it and they said it's updated on their end. But you guys refuse to update. It should be 234 Butterball way."

Since your saying you technically lived there as a child, just tell them the number is wrong like the above. Do a google map search to make sure the number doesnt exist.

For me, the guy put me on a hold a minute and then said I will correct this on your report. Within 2 days I got an e-mail notification with the results. Sure enough it was changed and had no address location ID number.

What's nice is once they change the number (and I made sure to pick a non-existant house number) the address location will become blank become it has no geographical reference. Then.... a week later I called back and disputed the address as never lived there and the rep looked and immediately removed it because it's not tied to anything.

A month later I disputed my baddie and it was deleted.

I am going to share EXACTLY how I got 6 Old addresses remove from EX EVEN WITH THE OLD ADDRESSES ATTACHED TO REPORTING TRADELINES

1st Call- Tell the operator that your concerned about the false addresses on your report, they will then ask which ones are false... Approach this one by one, Either answer you never lived at that address, Or its associated with a family member, but NOT you.

They will remove everything that ISNT attached to a tradeline- When they say they cant remove an address because its currently reporting on a tradeline, ASK WHICH ONES, write them down, tell them have a great day!

2nd call- 3 WEEKS LATER- Start it off the same way, tell them you want to remove false information on your reports. Give them the address, they will retort- No we cant its reporting on so and so tradeline... Answer like this- " Yes I know, I sent them a letter telling them to update their records 3 weeks ago, Certified mail, They received it, I've waited this long for them to update"

If you then get anymore push back ( I did ) You tell them this- I have done everything I could to update this creditor, If they have not taken action to update the tradeline, that doesnt mean the information isnt false, and It doesnt mean you should continue reporting this false information.

Make your case, BE FIRM.

Thats verbatim how I did it.... Old addresses, Incorrect Name spelling, Spouse information, etc. My report ONLY reports my current address.

OK I thought I was on a winning argument with EX when I reported to them that I had my data breached in the Anthem hack and they turned me down flat....refusing to delete any addresses......can I start using NYSBAD's method now or do I have to wait to make my first call to delete a few addresses after today's fiasco?

How do you dispute bankruptcy with the credit bureaus and what do you use as a means in disputing a closed collection account?

You're a newbie obviously as this is your first post, so welcome. Friendly advice...the people here love to help but abhor when people want to be spoon fed instead of lurking for a while, reading up. Just a heads up.

Briefly, always have old addresses, especially those tied to negative TLs removed from your credit report. Opt-out or have a security freeze placed on your lexisnexis report as this is the 3rd party furnisher of public information used by the CRAs to verify judgments, bankruptcies, etc. Once done, you are safe to dispute the bankruptcy and it should come off your reports. Do a search, there are several threads on getting bankruptcies removed and lexisnexis opt-out and security freezes.

Hope this helps.

Wow I did this right now today! TU removed ALL of my old addresses! (except for current) EX did all but One (said it was connected to 2 old accounts which I will followup on in 3 weeks per instuctions! ) Got ALL old phone numbers off on Both! Going to try EQ next . :yahoo:

I started my Credit Fix over a year ago after waiting for the SOL to run on on everything and educatiing myself on how to best deal with everything. (read, read, READ folks!)

I'm getting closer to the drop off (Mostly in 2017) for 5 accounts (All handled by either MCM or Porfolio and have seen recent posts suggesting to ask about removal early.)

Taking baby steps - but paying off in huge amounts of self-confidence and feeling like I'm in control finally!!

Had a SwissColony account from 1997 (date of LAST payment re-aged WTH? ) so going to go to the BBB on that one.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 I also was able to get a free CR from EX but simply saying I had been rejected for CCard and I got it free no prob)

Congrats! Once I finish WhyChat's Medical Collection process I'm going to complete all of this and hopefully get my bankruptcy off.

So we call, remove old addresses from the EXP report, and guess what? The EXP report, hard copy and online at Experian.com/disputes, still shows the " ADDRESS IDENTIFCATION NUMBER " on it right next to each baddie.

So how do we know the old addresses are still sitting on our file (not our report), connected to the baddie? I think they are simply hiding the old address from our view, not really removing it. Anyone who knows the difference between a credit file and a credit report, I think, probably understands the distinction.

Has anyone successfully disputed a baddie after removing the connected address on their EXP report? Specifically, after a dispute to EXP?

Yes....I have had almost all baddies deleted after getting all old adresses off of EX. The only thing I have left on EX is my BK. I am working on the BK right now.

I am happy for you! How, exactly, did you dispute the items?

CMRRR .... Disputed just one data point each time. One time EX said already investigated filed CPFB complaint showing never previously disputed the data point and poof that was deleted too. I might still be in special handling form the CPFB compliant. I dont know how long it lasts?

Hi. Really hope Im not asking a questions thats been previously asked but I think I didn't read it in this thread soon....I did all my "address removal" disputes online friday 6/26/15. Next day I uploaded/faxed the info they had requested. Since my wallet was lost/stolen I did not have a DL but I told them I would sent it this week after getting a new one, if they requested one. Transition emailed me on sunday 6/29/15 and removed all old addresses, old phones, old employment (havent heard from EX or EQ yet) but no accounts (good or bad) were removed. Is this normal?
