How are people getting addresses deleted off through chat? Also, how do I find out which address is associated to a charge off/collections? I paid for myfico and transunion to see if it shows on there and it doesn't. It just shows my old address and such

You need to order your paper reports from annual credit report.com. Experian lists address codes on trade lines that will let you know which address is associated.

hmmm.... what about when apps asks like "have you lived here for less than 2 years". ?

If I delete all my old addresses and have lived in my current for less than 2 years is that an issue?

Wouldn't it be for mortgages (which I'm prepping to have one around end of next year..)

Just answer your mortgage app questions truthfully.

I don't think it matters at all if the previous address is listed on your credit reports or not.

The only downside to removing old addresses is that it is POSSIBLE that old positive tradelines may disappear.

This rarely happens, but it is a possibility.

You could try to contact the creditor for old closed positive accounts and see if they will update your credit reports with your current address.

On you EX reports, you can tell which address each creditor reported by looking at the Address ID number.

If you really want to know how much information is collected about you (including every address you've ever lived at),

order your LexisNexis full file disclosure.

nysbadmk8,

I am happy to report that your tried and true method remains solid! I called EX, EQ and TU today, using your script. I went right to step two on all 3 and within 15 minutes on the phone with each, all personal information but my current address and full name were deleted. I modified your theory to slightly apply it to all personal information. No questions asked, literally the responses from all three ladies I talked to were " the next incorrect item sir... the next incorrect item sir."

Thank you for sharing this with all!

Talked to some a-hole in costa rica. He wouldn't delete addresses, saying that current accounts are being reported (student loans). I went through the script and in his most condescending tone said there's no way to delete. Ugh. Anyone do the HUCB plan and have it work? Do they record calls? is is likely I get the same call center? I want to punch this guy in the throat

Follow up post - found that the accounts that were reporting the old address, weren't even supposed to be on my report anyway! They were student loans that merged into one last fall - can't believe I missed the fact that all my reports say I owe $15k more than I do. Forest for trees I guess.

In any event, called back to EX asked them to dispute the 2 SLs as being transferred, she did that on the phone and then I went into a real sob story, sniffling and everything, about how this is so stressful, blah blah blah, she says, "OK honey, I'm sorry this is so hard. Let me just go ahead and delete that for you."

Boo-friggin-yah.

Now, off to delete me some tax liens -

I followed this thread, with a minor change, and it worked well. I have a hyphenated last name and had 14 name variations which were ALL deleted except the accurate one (even any that listed middle initial). I also deleted 2 old addresses, some phone numbers, and employment info.

I had a closed account tied to 1 old address and I just skipped to step 2. I told the guy I contacted the creditor but they had no interest in updating a closed account. He was about to remove it when I hit another snag... I forgot that inquiries had address info tied to them :( The 2 inqs in question will fall off in May so I will call in at that time and have the address removed. I will then have a 100% CLEAN EX report. :)

I followed this method and was able to remove every address I requested. I did have to be persistent and firm, and it took a total of 3 calls over 6 weeks, but I was able to obtain the desired result. I am going to start sending HIPPA letters on Monday. Every tip I've followed from this site has worked and I'm making progress every day.

I'm jealous of all the success. I tried today to remove some address' and they wouldn't budge. I did follow the steps and will be trying again in another 3 weeks. Hopefully I'll have some luck there. There are too many positive stories of this working for me to give up! Wish me luck, and if there's any recent tips on deleting them from EX, let me have 'em!

Spoke to someone named 'Frank' today, although that is an odd name for someone with his accent :)

Said I wanted to clear up some false addresses.

Started with one that was a typo of an actual address I was fine with keeping as I just moved from there a few months back and it is not tied to any negatives, just an inquiry. GONE.

Moved on to an address tied to one negative, my worst negative on EX, but which was legitimately an address where I never lived. It is the current address of a former joint account holder. Not even any real need for me to push hard. GONE.

Finally, moved on to a biggie. There was one address tied to several old negatives. I was able to start the conversation on this one as it was listed as tied to a business address. So I asked the name of the business. Legitimately, it was no business I ever heard of, but it was nice he was able to tell me the name. I asked if that notation of trade/contractor/business address could be removed. He said it absolutely could. Then HE took the lead and asked if I just wanted that notation deleted, or if it was not an address where I had lived, he could delete it altogether. Hell yeah! GONE.

So the system works. Now let's see if I can use the address removal a springboard to a clean EX with a few disputes?

I had called about 2 months ago and was able to remove all but 4 old addresses. Used the script from OP and they put in a request to remove 3 of the 4 without any push back. The last had 3 negative TL associated with it and they stated they couldn't remove because 3 TL were reporting it. Pushed back at them stating that I was aware of the 3 and named them and told them I had sent them all a certified letter to update the address and they still hadn't. Explained I have done everything I can to get them to update them and he put me on hold to check and see what he can do. Came back on the phone in a few minutes and said that since I had notified them and they still hadn't changed it he was adding this one to my request as well. I should know in 24-72 hours whether this worked, but I can tell you this is the farthest I have ever gotten with the removal of these 4 addresses. I will update my post once I get the results.

Thanks OP!

1) Does anyone know if Experian will delete an address w/o a tradeline tied to it?

2) Does anyone know if Experian will delete an address tied to a tradeline for an old/closed account?

3) Has anyone been able to update their address on a closed accounts to prevent the unintended consequence of having that old/good accounts drop off when you delete the old address?

I have no bad tradelines, but about a dozen addresses. Some I haven't lived at in 20 years, some are my parents current addresses that I've never lived at, and some that are just plain old addresses.

I have a charged off account that is beyond SOL & has fallen off my report. It's tied to an old address. I'm about to apply for a mortgage & want to delete the address. Hoping to prevent JDB from coming out of the woodwork upon seeing the application. Not sure if that's a good strategy or not. Might not be able to get the address off, and removing the address may not prevent anything.

Any info/input would be great!

You guys are the best!!

Anyone have any info on any of those possibilities?

ETA: And I did not lose the positive accounts on EX after I deleted the old address tied to them.

Give it a shot. I tried once with a positive closed Chase account that had been closed for years - no dice. But it is worth a try.

You will likely be successful getting all your old addresses deleted from all 3 CRAs.

Thanks Bull & Tweak!!

I was just posting on another forum how I love straightforward answers!!!

Even when the right answer is complicated, I get frustrated to start all over again w/ another layer of research.

I will call Experian on Monday & report back.

FYI, I tried to start a dispute via their website. I had the idea of disputing at least the addresses not tied to any accounts, and some phone numbers. No matter what I chose to dispute or what option I gave it told me I had to call. Not sure if that's normal, or if I use too old a report number or something.
