past due account from 8/1/2009 for 299.00 what to do

I have a 299.00 from EQUINOX COLLECTION SER from 8/1/2009, I could easily pay this bill. will this hurt me or help? on my experian it shows that i have recent 2014 kd nd so it looks like it is still hurting me as i type. any advice?

do you know who it is? any chance that they can't verify?

not a 100% sure but in the comment section it reads "Account in dispute-reported by subscriber" which I think I disputed it last year and they verified it

If you simply pay this debt, FICO will see it as "new" and you could lose 20+ pts. A paid collection is no better than an unpaid one.

ya i thin that they already have, i believe that i had disputed it last year. this was in the comment box "Account in dispute-reported by subscriber"
