Where to get a private student loan?

In a few months, I will be going back to school as an Undergraduate. Unfortunately, all the schools I am interested in are $40k a year. I will get some of it covered in federal student loans, grants, and scholarships, but I'll still owe about $20k a year in tuition. Does anyone have a lender for private student loans? There was an article today in the NY Times about student loan horror stories, so I would also like to hear about any not-so-great lenders you know about.

Thanks!

I know this isn't what you asked about and it probably will be of no help to you, but you do not want to get private student loans. Figure out any other way to pay for your tuition or go to a cheaper school. I'm a guy who has been forced into bankruptcy due to private student loan debt (which isn't discharged in bankruptcy), so all of my original financial issues still exist. I basically live and work just to try to pay back private student loans that have no available relief due to limited income, being in school, being ill, etc. They are literally causing me a slow death due to the poor quality of life I have, in part, due to private student loans.

Below is a list of 'known' private student loan lenders; however, this is not an all-inclusive list; therefore, please do your research before you take out any private student loans and please remember that you will not have the same consumer protections as those of Federal Student Loans. This list is from FinAid.org - I know the owner of this website.

There are three repayment options for students attending degree-granting institutions: Interest Repayment, Fixed Repayment and Deferred Repayment. Borrowers may mix and match the options if they wish, choosing a different option with each new loan. Interest rates are lower for the Interest Repayment and Fixed Repayment options. The lower balance at graduation for the Interest Repayment and Fixed Repayment options will yield a shorter repayment term for about the same monthly payment, letting the borrower repay their loans quicker and saving the borrower thousands of dollars in interest.

Borrowers may apply for cosigner release after they graduate and make 12 consecutive on-time principal and interest payments. Cosigner release is subject to credit review and approval. Borrower must be a US citizen or permanent resident to qualify for cosigner release.
