No moving parts but very inefficient so they will heat up air they de-humidify more than a regular one. If you have cold damp air you also need heated up they can do the job.

Pelletier devices are solid state thermal transfer devices. You apply current and one side gets cold while the other side gets warm. Air passing by the cold side has some of it's water vapor condensed which drops into a draining tube.

I've got an electric one in my basement that runs contiuously (damp basement) similar to this one that drains directly into our sump hole:

on topic but not what you are looking for is this:

http://www.thermastor.com/Santa-Fe-Compact/

it's a whole house unit which i admit i was contemplating putting in the crawlspace but decided to keep it in the living quarters because i had a mold issue. some places would be up to 70% RH which is crazy. i have it on a timer to run various times throughout the day and i have a very large house and it works well.

it's very expensive but i called one of the 'authorized retailers' on their site , which was a pest control place, and they got it for me hundreds less for some reason. it was 800 for me but normally much more. still well worth it because i tried 3 diffferent 'normal' dehumidifiers from local retailers and all were garbage.
