Got my results back from my TU disputes today

Wells Fargo CO DELETED

Enhanced Recover CA DELETED

First Premier DELETED

Capital Bank - Updated as PAID AS AGREED - NO LATES

IT'S TOTALLY CLEAN!!!

Sorry for all the shouting but this is my first clean credit report in, well, in EVER!

Also, showing 2 inquiries and not 3 as CreditKarma shows.

I hope to see my TU FICO jump but who knows? Still - - -YAY!

Wow. :)

Congratulations! You're doing an excellent job. I myself am also starting my repair journey so any advice would be very appreciated. I have a closed Cap1 account with a few 30, day late payments. What letter did you send to get yours updated?

Thanks for the congratulations, Momma@ and JBSmooth :)

JB, I only had one 30 day late on an open account and it was over two years old. I've had a perfect payment history since so I did a good will phone call. It took me a couple of times. Since your account is closed I'd go the info verification route via the CRAs. Have all your reports and see if there are any discrepancies between the three and dispute for deletion appropriately. I'm not the best one to ask for that but if I were you I'd read as much as possible regarding the dispute process on the boards. The thing I learned is that it pays to be persistent. Good luck!

Also, just got off the phone with EX - they agreed to delete the CO that was 2 months from dropping off. On the other, the settled CO, they pulled their BS interpretation of the law. I'll be filing a complaint. That son of a gun is getting deleted.

So sent a formal complaint to the NY Attorney General regarding Experian's refusal to delete a paid charge off in accordance with NY State law.

We'll see what happens there.

Meanwhile, my latest CreditKarma score has finally broken 700. It's now 728 and I'm officially GOOD.

Congratulations!! I'm still disputing on my TU and EQ but figured I can have TU clean by October latest (as the few remaining baddies can be deleted off as obsolete at that point). I'm looking forward to that clean report day and the score jump.

Awesome job!!! Whoop whoop to 700+ scores, btw if you want to see your true TU fico go to lending club and fill out their info, its a soft. I know they provide the TU fico if you're denied but not sure if you get approved.

You have accomplished a lot in such a short period of time! Way to go!

Thanks, DramaQueen and LilyFlower, too!

Was in Macy's today because I needed a new pair of sandals to wear now that I've broken my big toe. So I decided to go ahead and get the extra discount with opening a CC.

Another $1k to improve my utilization :)

Was in Banana Republic yesterday and their 40% off memorial day sale was happening. I picked up a few things and was told, of course, I'd get an additional 15% off if I opened an account. So I pulled the trigger and now have a new $1,000 visa with them.

My credit lines now total $7,950 with a utilization of 2%. I've upped my total number of accounts to seven. Four more accounts and I'll be bumped into a new score bracket. Looking forward to requesting that Walmart CLI in August.

Yay!

I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be approved on the spot for new credit. I remember, back in my 20s, when I attempted to apply at the register and my subsequent embarrassment when the approval didn't go through. I finally feel like a financially responsible adult! And I feel like at long last I can join the rest of the world of financially responsible adults - I'm in the club. (Except: because I've lived on cash for so long, I don't have any destructive spending tendencies that will cause me to run up debt. I'll continue to purchase only what I can pay for on any given day. A 2% utilization feels pretty awesome, too.)

I'm quite proud of myself :)

Congrats! Reading your posts truly inspires me as I start my journey. Right now, I feel so overwhelmed, worried, and confused. But, I know that in the end - everything will work out for my good!

Just make sure you keep them all active with regular use, PIF right before the statement closes, and in 6 months have 1 card reporting a 1% balance. Then app for a rewards visa/mc/amex. :good:

In the mean time, have you read thru all this thread? http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=519290

Will do. And thanks for the link. I've got the Walmart card, so I've got my TU FICO, and I've joined DCU so will wait about six months, garden a bit, and then apply for one of their cards to get the EQ FICO - still working on a way to get my EX FICO. Looks like there are plenty of NY based banks on the list so I'm in good shape.

Still working on a clean EX report. I'll get them to honor the NY 5 year purge law if I have to sue them to do it. The NY AG's office is working on my complaint at the moment.

BTW BDK, I really appreciate your helpful and positive contributions on this board! Thank you. It makes a nice change :)

ALSO: Just reported EQ to the CFPB for their so-called "investigation" into my dispute. I have no late payments on my Capital Bank account and yet they insist they verified a 30-day late. Liars. I'm feeling litigious. I'd easily win since I know for certain they're reporting inaccurate info.

Holy c**p!

According to the approval slip I got when I was approved for my BR CC, I was given a limit of $1,000. But I see the card's already reported to EQ with a limit of $3,000 !!!

If this is in fact true, it will be my highest limit yet. I'm not going to raise any alarms but will wait until I receive the card and log into my account online to see what BR has in their system.

Wondering if anybody else has had a pleasant surprise like this that's stuck...?

Also, just got off the phone with EQ - they deleted First Premier because it's due to drop off - though they didn't delete it from my written dispute. Spoke to Melody and she took care of it.

Also brought up the subject of Capital Bank and the nonexistent 30-day late - she said Capital Bank verified it!!! So not possible, since they did the delete for me. Time to call Capital Bank!

Aw, thanks :) You'll get there. Just keep plugging away and ask questions when you get stuck. Good luck!

Just spoke to my lady at Capital Bank and she was as shocked as I was that they supposedly verified EQ's investigation. They're updating to EQ in a few days and meanwhile are sending me a verification email that I can forward to EQ if they continue to report a 30-day late after the account updates.

My lady at Capital Bank is AWESOME!

So with First Premier gone, and the 30-day late from Capital Bank about to be corrected, that leaves only the Wells Fargo settled charge-off on my EX and EQ reports and that account falls under the NY 5 year purge rule. It will be 5 years on September. I'm going to hammer away with the help of the NY AG office and after that I'll have three clean credit reports.

I'm almost there!

Oh yes, I've been reading the thread. I have to call my liaison at the NYAG and follow up with them in the next couple of days. They've filed my complaint and I need to find out next steps. So far it seems nobody has gotten satisfaction from the NYAG. Let's hope they make something happen!

Wow - so both EQ and EX are reporting the BR CC with a $3k limit. This is cool! Strange that TU hasn't reported the TL yet, since theirs was the report pulled in the first place. This makes BR my highest limit card. I'm 50 bucks away from $10k in credit lines. My goal is to multiply that by 10 in the next 12 months.

My utilization is in a very healthy place and I will not be apping for any new cards for 6 months now. I'm solidly in gardening mode.

It WARMS my heart to see your progress. Another example of how hard work and diligence totally pays off on CB. Congratulations! Keep up the awesome work! :yahoo:

Finally posting on this forum after gawking for a while. 🙂

I've been working on my credit repair the last couple of years and am kind of at that point where I'm not sure if there is anything else I can do but wait it out.

Had a medical issue back in 2016 / 17 which contributed to somewhere around 12 account charge-offs and a car repossession. Over the past year and a half, I've been aggressively paying the accounts off (all are at zero balance, settled), disputed as many as I could (several fell off, am doing another round this month), opened five rebuilder / secured / sub prime cards starting two years ago (Citi Secured, Self Secured, Cap 1 Secured, Cap 1 Unsecured, Credit One Unsecured), did the Self Lending self loan (like 6 months left on that one), Experian Boost, have had a high interest car loan the last two years, am about to replace it with a newer car loan at a lower rate, and obviously keep cards paid off every month and paid on time (*accidentally had a 30 day late when I was changing banks and forgot to update the account that was on autopay).

Looks like stuff starts aging off in 2023 and 2025. Scores went from the low 500s to 696 Trans, 712 Equifax, 625 Experian.

The problem I'm having is that even with everything settled, zero balances, and "good" scores," I'm still in purgatory when it comes to getting an actual decent points card. Capital One gave me an unsecured one a few months ago, but it's a $300 limit on a non rewards card. And since I already have two cards with them (one which is my oldest card now), even though their my "best bet" in the nearterm for a better card, i'm at their card limit.

Goal Cards in the future are Chase Sapphire, AMEX Blue, AMEX Gold, and Citi Premier.

Current plan is to just keep sending dispute rounds every few months, keep balances at zero, not apply for anything new at least until early 2022.

Is there anything I'm missing? Anything I can do sooner to help compensate for the scars from the past on my credit report?
    • By BigSpenderBigSaver
Hello all. The title says just about everything. Is it known whether or not AMEX holds closed accounts against you when opening new ones?

I had three (3) AMEX accounts, none of them were Gold. I entered all three in a DMP (I wanted to keep one open, but the DMP told me not to or else lenders may not accept the plan). I just paid off all three well ahead of the end of the DMP end date. To my knowledge, I have not be subject to an F/R.

      FICO scores as follows:
      EX 713
      TU 717
      EQ 701

I was approved for the CSP yesterday (7/23/21) so I will have a new account lowering my AAoA. I not looking to apply for the AMEX Gold for a few months (depending on your feedback).

      Thanks!

I haven’t logged on in a bit, but I’ve been gardening and bringing up my score after my BK discharge in 2019. I applied for a Lowe’s account and got a 7-10 day message with a reference number. I noticed that my credit was not pulled. When I called them, the overseas customer service rep transferred me back to a stateside fraud analyst. They made me go through some website to record myself for five seconds and the take pictures of my drivers license. After that, the verification website instructed me to call in with a passcode. I called back in and the woman put me on hold. While on hold, I got notification that my credit was pulled and then she comes back on the line and says “Congratulations” and provided me with my credit limit. I forgot the exact amount, but it has a weird limit ending that ended in 37. It was under 5k and was something like $4,537 or $4,837. I was thrown off by the last two number as I’m used to it being 00.

      1) Has anyone gotten a seemingly random credit limit with Lowe’s (Synchrony)?

      2) Has anyone gone through that verification process before?

it’s been about 18 months since I applied for a credit card and this is my first store card (other than Kohl’s since I shop there for work clothes). Feeling out of the loop all of a sudden. Lol

      Hello,

Does anyone know either by experience or with a good degree of certainty if American Express (AMEX) will decline card membership if you have ever filed bankruptcy against them? I have read somewhere that they keep a permanent “barred from membership list”.

Is this right, no. However, as you probably know a financial institution may choose to do business with whomever they choose (a rather broad definition). I have read that even if an American Express account has been fully-discharged by a successfully complete bankruptcy case, they will no longer choose to do business with you.

The reason I am asking is twenty years ago, I listed them as a creditor in my Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. I would like to apply for membership in the future when my current FICO is a bit stronger. However, I do not want to burn a hard-inquiry only for it to be declined.

I apologize if I am not posting in the correct area. Thank you.

Wassup y’all, I went through a rough patch in my life when I was 18 and overcharged the freak out of a kohls charge card and it went into collections. I paid it off and now i’m thinking🤔, how can i get that removed off my report since i paid it off. I know i should’ve tried to write a letter to them saying if i pay it off they’ll knock it off my credit but i wasn’t thinking back then. Is it to late to contact them and ask to get it removed if possible? Im not tryna wait 7 years i’m trying to get a house next year y’all.
