Congrats! I have the same bill for Comcast as well as one from ATT from them I an getting ready to try to get rid of. What did you send them? I need these gone. I have 25 baddies to go.

I used WhyChat's simple DV letter. Worked like a charm. Good luck!

Wonderful. I will be all over this right after I send out my 12277 form to the IRS for removal of Tax Lien. Thanks!

Thanks for the support, BDK! And you're welcome PostiveMotion - get that DV letter out ASAP - it's a great feeling to see a collection come off your report so easily.

Checked my CreditKarma report card as I tend to do:

Utilization is now a "B" (reflecting last week's UT of 31%) up from a "D" - next update I should have an "A"

Payment History is now an "A" up from a "B" - reflects the deletion of my one and only late pay (GW from Capital Bank)

Those two improvements have netted me a whopping 7 points on TU's magical educational score.

So discouraging. I know this is only a FAKO score but I also know a FICO points is worth, like, HALF of a FAKO point. So I'm sure FICO barely budged.

When am I going to see real improvements in my score? What does a girl have to DO?

Also today got my dispute CMRR with EX returned to sender. I'd transposed a couple of numbers in their PO Box number. My bad. But seriously, the people working their mail room must be REALLY dense to not know how to forward letters addressed to the Experian Dispute Department. Poop-heads.

Looks like the Enhanced Recovery bogus collection has been deleted from TU as CreditKarma is showing I now have an "A" in derogatory marks and the CK score has jumped 22points to 693.

Two negs to go and my UT of 9% isn't showing yet. Waiting for a clean report before I check any FICO scores.

Still entrenched in the "FAIR" credit camp. Bit feeling positive.

Also puzzled by certain CBers who routinely lord it over other posters by being critical and dismissive. Clearly they know it ALL. It's easy to be a bully in an anonymous online forum. Still, it saddens me on some levels. They must be very unhappy individuals - disconnected from themselves and others - to behave that way. They're probably nursing some pretty deep wounds of rejection and abandonment. This forum may be the only place in their lives where they feel a sense of control. Ah well, bless 'em. Ignoring their behavior is easy enough.

Congrats on your success!

Our goal at CB is to help everyone, no matter where they are at. If there are people who become out of line with judgment or criticism, we will deal with them.

Thank you, Trevor. Cute pups.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race....

You're so right.

On the upside, there was something I needed to buy on Ebay so I logged in and saw the PayPal Extra Mastercard and thought, what the heck? The additional inquiry will fall off shortly after the other three and they're only a month old so let's give it a try.

Ten seconds later and I've got a new CC with a $1k CL. So now, according to everyone, I'm supposed to call for a CLI. Which I did. I asked for a total CL of $10k, and they gave me - ZERO. I do know I was pushing it since my reports are not completely clean yet. But my UT will be helped out quite a bit with the new CC. I'll hold off on applying for ANY more cards until my reports are pristine.

Utilization is at a comfortable 4%.

Hurry up with your investigations, EQ, EX & TU.

You are now right where you want to be as far as TLs. Time to garden, wait on those disputes, and get ready for the 4 month +1 day CLI requests. You are doing very well, and I think soon you will be trying to decide which prime card to apply for first!:clapping:

Don't bother increasing your OpenSky deposit to $5,000.

Continue cleaning up your CR.

Pay down your balances. Let only 1 card report a small balance ($10-20) and the rest ZERO.

Once CR are clean and utilization has been optimized and reflected on CR, call up GECRB underwriter and ask for CLI to $25,000 on Walmart card. Yes, $25K.

Chugs, I just fell out of my chair when I read what you wrote. Now that I'm firmly back in my seat, I have to ask: is it common for GECRB to grant a $25K increase on a Walmart card with a $600 CLI when the highest CL I hold otherwise is for $1850?? (I think I know where you're going with this but I very much want to hear more!)

You won't know how high GECRB will go unless you aim for the sky. The worse that can happen is they reject your request. Or they can always counter offer.

I saw your new Paypal approval. Congrats. Now stop messing around until your reports are clean and your util is optimized. Then call GECRB and ask for $25K on both Paypal and Walmart :D

I agree with you. It's a pain waiting for the CRAs to get back with me on the dispute process. I'm fairly confident both of my remaining negs will be deleted. It's a waiting game.

I feel like I'll be ready to app for my first prime card by November. And of course I'll be requesting CLIs on my existing cards, including the secured CapOne card - which is at this point my only rewards card. I've been using it like crazy and paying off the balance immediately when it shows up online.

Thanks for the Good Word!

Thanks for the feedback on GECRB, Chugs. I'm learning to be assertive in asking for what I want, instead of letting anybody else tell me what I can have. I owe my new skillz to all the people like yourself on these boards.

Messing around: Was I messing around? I thought it was reasonable that I might get one more card since I only had 2 inquiries on my CRAs and my UT had dropped below 10%...?

For now I'm biding my time. In a little more than 3 months I'll request a CLI with Walmart and other than that, won't do any more apping until November, when my reports should be like the clean and shiny soul of a newborn baby. Meanwhile, I'll research the best prime cards from the CUs I've joined - NASA, Quorum and DCU.

After I've obtained two prime cards with healthy CLs I want to apply for Care Credit.

"Messing around" because you will continue getting toy limits until you clean up your reports. Once those are clean, you can get much higher limits.

Luckily, it's another GECRB account so you will get a CLI fairly easily.

I understand what you're saying. Out of curiosity, what CLs (in your estimation) constitute a toy limit?

It's subjective. But I consider anything less than $5,000 to be toy limit. During my rebuilding phase, I had a hard time getting past $3,000. Only 1 bank gave me $5K.

These days, anything less than $15,000 makes me grumpy :D

Finally posting on this forum after gawking for a while. 🙂

I've been working on my credit repair the last couple of years and am kind of at that point where I'm not sure if there is anything else I can do but wait it out.

Had a medical issue back in 2016 / 17 which contributed to somewhere around 12 account charge-offs and a car repossession. Over the past year and a half, I've been aggressively paying the accounts off (all are at zero balance, settled), disputed as many as I could (several fell off, am doing another round this month), opened five rebuilder / secured / sub prime cards starting two years ago (Citi Secured, Self Secured, Cap 1 Secured, Cap 1 Unsecured, Credit One Unsecured), did the Self Lending self loan (like 6 months left on that one), Experian Boost, have had a high interest car loan the last two years, am about to replace it with a newer car loan at a lower rate, and obviously keep cards paid off every month and paid on time (*accidentally had a 30 day late when I was changing banks and forgot to update the account that was on autopay).

Looks like stuff starts aging off in 2023 and 2025. Scores went from the low 500s to 696 Trans, 712 Equifax, 625 Experian.

The problem I'm having is that even with everything settled, zero balances, and "good" scores," I'm still in purgatory when it comes to getting an actual decent points card. Capital One gave me an unsecured one a few months ago, but it's a $300 limit on a non rewards card. And since I already have two cards with them (one which is my oldest card now), even though their my "best bet" in the nearterm for a better card, i'm at their card limit.

Goal Cards in the future are Chase Sapphire, AMEX Blue, AMEX Gold, and Citi Premier.

Current plan is to just keep sending dispute rounds every few months, keep balances at zero, not apply for anything new at least until early 2022.

Is there anything I'm missing? Anything I can do sooner to help compensate for the scars from the past on my credit report?

Hello all. The title says just about everything. Is it known whether or not AMEX holds closed accounts against you when opening new ones?

I had three (3) AMEX accounts, none of them were Gold. I entered all three in a DMP (I wanted to keep one open, but the DMP told me not to or else lenders may not accept the plan). I just paid off all three well ahead of the end of the DMP end date. To my knowledge, I have not be subject to an F/R.

      FICO scores as follows:
      EX 713
      TU 717
      EQ 701

I was approved for the CSP yesterday (7/23/21) so I will have a new account lowering my AAoA. I not looking to apply for the AMEX Gold for a few months (depending on your feedback).

      Thanks!

I haven’t logged on in a bit, but I’ve been gardening and bringing up my score after my BK discharge in 2019. I applied for a Lowe’s account and got a 7-10 day message with a reference number. I noticed that my credit was not pulled. When I called them, the overseas customer service rep transferred me back to a stateside fraud analyst. They made me go through some website to record myself for five seconds and the take pictures of my drivers license. After that, the verification website instructed me to call in with a passcode. I called back in and the woman put me on hold. While on hold, I got notification that my credit was pulled and then she comes back on the line and says “Congratulations” and provided me with my credit limit. I forgot the exact amount, but it has a weird limit ending that ended in 37. It was under 5k and was something like $4,537 or $4,837. I was thrown off by the last two number as I’m used to it being 00.

      1) Has anyone gotten a seemingly random credit limit with Lowe’s (Synchrony)?

      2) Has anyone gone through that verification process before?

it’s been about 18 months since I applied for a credit card and this is my first store card (other than Kohl’s since I shop there for work clothes). Feeling out of the loop all of a sudden. Lol

      Hello,

Does anyone know either by experience or with a good degree of certainty if American Express (AMEX) will decline card membership if you have ever filed bankruptcy against them? I have read somewhere that they keep a permanent “barred from membership list”.

Is this right, no. However, as you probably know a financial institution may choose to do business with whomever they choose (a rather broad definition). I have read that even if an American Express account has been fully-discharged by a successfully complete bankruptcy case, they will no longer choose to do business with you.

The reason I am asking is twenty years ago, I listed them as a creditor in my Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. I would like to apply for membership in the future when my current FICO is a bit stronger. However, I do not want to burn a hard-inquiry only for it to be declined.

I apologize if I am not posting in the correct area. Thank you.

Wassup y’all, I went through a rough patch in my life when I was 18 and overcharged the freak out of a kohls charge card and it went into collections. I paid it off and now i’m thinking🤔, how can i get that removed off my report since i paid it off. I know i should’ve tried to write a letter to them saying if i pay it off they’ll knock it off my credit but i wasn’t thinking back then. Is it to late to contact them and ask to get it removed if possible? Im not tryna wait 7 years i’m trying to get a house next year y’all.
